glove recommendation?

just got a job coaching a HS team, and want to get some gloves in team colors. I know most companies do custom gloves, so if anyone had any recommendations on a specific glove that would be great. I'm looking more at the midrange-high end gloves

Also, I know I fit better in 12" for some gloves and 13" in other. If you know if some companies run larger or smaller to other brands, that would be great

The team I coached did gloves a few times. All the companies have minimums for the first order, we did brine and they were 24, and Warrior did 12. Brine will let you mix and match the type of glove(16defts, 4 kings, 4 ventilators)to get 24, I am not sure about the others. Biggest thing-Order early. They say 3 months, but something ALWAYS happens. Another idea is stock gloves in team colors. Our 1st year, we just bought 10 pairs of royal and white xfactor gels. Best thing was 1 week lead time instead of 3 months All the companies also have a closeout list, of previous years product, that is usually steeply discounted. If you go to your local shop and ask them what they can find, they can probably come up with something for you.

I am going to agree with Todd. Custom gloves are nice but after coaching high school two years ago I would go back and just get stock gloves in team prices.

Absolutely do not get Gait gloves. St. Thomas bought custom gloves from them and half way throught the season most of the gloves had rips in the palms. We contacted Gait they would not do anything to fix the problem. We will never buy Gait products again, as they do not stand by their product.

To reiterate what most are saying on here, stock gloves are usually the way to go. For one, they are cheaper, for another they are quicker. If you have access to an embroidery shop in town, you can get numbers and your logo put on them anyway after you receive them and it will generally be quicker than getting them done by the manufacturer. The Brine Defts are a popular choice. They are well made and look pretty solid. Warrior gloves are definitely great looking, but on the balance don't seem to hold up quite as long. We haven't done much with STX, but they are obviously a good brand too.

Rock-it Pocket certainly can order team gloves (amongst other things) and would love to give you a price if you are interested. We can drop ship right to your door from the manufacturer (as can most companies). PM me if you want more info.

I had the same issue a couple years ago when I ordered over 75 pairs of Brine Defts for the program I was involved with....Everyone loved them, but the school paid for them, and then we had to collect them. Which continued to give me nothing but headaches for a couple of years.... I recommend if you do custom gloves, give them the option of purchasing at the end of the year....that way you just have to replace a couple of pairs moving forward, or you just make them all buy them from the school....

besides, HS kids usually arent the cleanest or most careful kids when it comes to equipment - I know some of the kids I coach - you couldnt pay me to wear their gloves

if its custom, some will "magically disapear"......

What you can do is buy the standard glove and bring it over to your local embroidery/t-shirt shop and see what they can do for you. Most of the time it will be cheaper then brine, warrior or your local shop doing it then you can pick up a clearance model glove.

I like the Deft with the cuff cut off is a solid glove

Reebok just came out with a new line of outdoor equipment. Their gloves are called the 9K, and they look and feel absolutely amazing. They run about $150, but I've heard that Reebok gives some pretty generous team discounts, and they're very customer friendly. They don't customize, but their stock gloves loook better than most custom gloves anyway.

We had the presentation of their equipment a few weeks, it is nice, especially for a first shot. I like the gloves and ironically I was just looking at them as I was reading this.

You are correct, the salesmen are pretty aggressive right now and ready to deal. They are new players on the market and looking for new clients. Some areas they are hoping to get in a little bit more, so if you're in one of those you may have a good shot at getting some really good prices.

The new adidas gloves and equipment are also pretty good looking. As is the case with Reebok (owned by Adidas) they are only stock this year but will go custom next.

thanks for all the imput y'all, but i made my decision about a month ago. I went with defts.. Cheap and stylish. Id recommend them to almost anyone
