Tahoe Tourney 2007- DUB C domination

Postby MandibleS4L on Wed Aug 01, 2007 2:02 pm

Dub C takes home the trophy, going 5-0 in the process. Clif Bar does well, advancing out of bracket play to lose in the semi's.

Not bad for the WCLL alumni (and CSU too, Birdy represented well)

Highlights:
WCLL team winning it all.

Dub-C no angle goal against O-Club in the championship.

Dugan reffing an entire game while on his cell phone with the MLL.

Having my license plates taken by the police and then later running into the same cop while he had his gun drawn at the Clif Bar house after thinking he heard gunshots.

A certain incident in the woods.

Married women...

DJ at Rookies playing the gay version of "Back That Ass Up."

No DUIs in the morning

J. Coffman picking up the ball out of his stick with his hands during the game and everyone shaking their heads (sorry had to call you out Sack).

Anything else?

Congrats to the Dub C squad. Missed the final game but saw them take it to Rocky Mountain Oysters in the semis, so they were obviously playing well.

Made a last minute decision to make the long haul up to Incline for the tourney and of course it did not disappoint.

Here were the highlights:

Metoyer in 70's lax gear. Would have never guessed it was him. I had to ask somebody who the old guy was on Dub C with the bucket helmet, lime green gloves, and retro socks.

Clif Bar vs SLO Town at 9:30 a.m. in the Sunday morning game. The opening whistle is about to blow (9 on 9 - due to the unsurprisingly low turnout) and the Clif Bar goalie who is already positioned in the cage yells at the ref, "hey wait don't start the game, I don't have any gloves on." Goalie runs to the sidelines to get his gloves and the game begins. Those are the kind of things you see in the Sunday morning games.

And as always, pale ales in the evening shade after the final game of the day. Ahhhhh, worth the trip right there.

Lowlights:
Realizing that I am way too old to be playing lacrosse at 6K feet elevation. The only other people my age on the field were the refs.

Thought that Pringle played for the very competitive West Sunset team who went 3-1.

yeah and Bird was on Cliff Bar. There as a little recruiting at the end of the tournament, but I won't really go into that...

Yeah, because if people hadn't resorted to recruiting, Bigfoot would have definitely won.

I am not saying we would have won at all. We got beat, Cliff bar was a good team, I am just saying there was recruiting at the end is all.

There always is, that is the nature of the tournament. People get worn out by Sunday and the advancing teams pick up a few ringers.

I have been playing in the tournament for many years now, and everyone always plays for multiple teams. There is no rule against it, and anyone can play for any other team.

Dax Harrison played a game with Dub C and he was at the tourney with the Rocky Mountain Oysters. That is just how it goes in Tahoe.

Yes he did, but Pringle originally played for Dub C a few years ago and is always welcome. Plus his team was out of the tournament after their first game so he played for both teams.

Not only was Clif Bar good, but Clif Shot made the semi's. Both Clif teams only lost to teams in the finals.
