Before the MCLA seedings come out, and people start complaining about the seedings etc, go look at the NCAA Seedings.
Cornell, undefeated and with a win over Duke is #4
Duke is #1, even though they lost to Cornell
There is more tomfoolery, but I don't have time to note all the fascinating decisions made.....

#1 Duke (14-2) vs Providence (7-9)
#2 Virginia (12-3) vs. Delaware (11-5)
#3 Johns Hopkins (9-4) vs. Notre DAme (11-3)
#4 Cornell (13-0) vs. Towson (9-6)
#5 Albany (14-2) vs. Loyola (7-5)
#6 Georgetown vs. Princeton
#7 Maryland (10-5) vs. UMBC (10-5)
#8 North Carolina (9-5) vs. Navy (11-3)
I got the above information from the Baltimore Sun.
Ok, there are 6 teams from Maryland. There are two teams close to Maryland- Virginia and Georgetown. There are 4 ACC teams playing. There are two New York teams (Cornell and Albany) playing two Maryland teams. Oh, yeah, the Ivies don't get respect- just Cornell and Princeton.
There is so much transparency with the selection, so I can quite understand what Rob Graff was talking about "tomfoolery."

The way I understand and figure it out... What really BUGS me the most is a fan's dream of seeing Duke and Cornell in the finals, but that is unlikely. Let's say Cornell wins over Towson and Albany, and who they will face is Duke. Granted, Cornell and Virginia never faced each other, so I just wish that Cornell would have been either #1 or #2.
I checked Laxpower, and some made a good point. It looks like Cornell may have the easiest path and JHU has the hardest path.
Any thoughts??

I have a couple of real problems with how this worked out. First, Cornell beat Duke. How can you put the #1 ranked team in the country in at #4? This has to be viewed as a slap in the face of the coaches poll. True UVA is a tough team and finished a close second in the ACC but Cornell has been the #1 team in the nation for weeks (a spot vacated by UVA when they lost to Drexel) and the Big Red went undefeated! You can make the argument that Cornell doesn't play as tough a schedule but then they shouldn't have been ranked #1 in the first place. I think the selection committee needed to show a little more respect.
Then the committee puts JHU at #3? They are a four loss team, including a loss to an overrated UNC team. I have watched a lot of the Hop this year and I don't think they are anywhere near the #3 team in the country. They aren't even sure who they are going to put between the pipes.
19-8...that's how badly Navy beat UNC earlier this year but somehow UNC is ranked over the Mids?
I think a little more common sense and a little less computer rankings would have been nice during the selection process.

The Committee obviously wants Duke to have the easiest route possible to the Championship so they can get the most out of the 'Return of Duke Lacrosse' story, will be lots of exposure with this storyline. Ivy League Cornell's drive to the finals just doesn't get headlines.
On another note, very pumped to see Providence in again. 3rd time in 4 years I believe. Impressive for a team that does not give scholarships. Had to upset Siena twice in a row to even have a chance and pulled it off. Now if only we didn't have to play Hopkins, Duke, or UVA every first round. Either way Burdicks doing great things with that program.

Here are the Men's NCAA DI, DII, and DIII brackets:
Men's Division I bracket
Men's Division II bracket
Men's Division III bracket
Those are gleaned from Laxpower. Thought y'all would like to have a clearer picture of those brackets. The only difference is that we have better graphics of our own MCLA brackets with the team helmets.

lax.com and laxpower both have video recaping/outlining the selection process. The way the committee makes their selections is what forced them to place a team such as Cornell in the fourth spot. Duke was a no-brainer for them at the 1 spot and UVA and JHU were essentially tied at the 2 spot. This left Cornell with the 4 seed. Crazy stuff!

After reading a little bit from both links, Duke is #1 because of its RPI, QW (Quality Wins) and SOS whereas Cornell's RPI is high (2) and SOS is (19). Anyway, I know most of you have your minds on MCLA right now unless you need a break from those practice drills and setting up plays and schemes, etc. You can take a look at both links:

Guess nothing is simple these days. I just wonder what the criteria was like in the 1970s when it came to selecting NCAA Men's Division I teams for the tourneys back then. Well, let the best team win the whole enchilada.
