Div B

Postby Karl Lynch on Tue May 01, 2007 12:48 pm

Southwestern University is the Division B champion.

TCU was ineligible for the playoffs because the are an "A" team playing down.

Trinity was ineligible for the playoffs because of forfeits.

UTSA was expelled from the league for using a high school kid in a game.

St. Ed's was ineligible for the playoffs for using ineligible players.

Austin College had too many injuries to field a team.

A decision was made that a consolation game was going to be played in place of the Division B championship game. That information was posted last week if I am remembering correctly.

division B

Postby laxforlife on Tue May 01, 2007 1:30 pm

wow probably the most disappointed season any division has ever seen. Sucks for southwestern that they didnt have to do anything to be champions, but at least they get to try to win nationals.

Karl: Is there anything to be done with division B or is it just "hope things get better," because it seems like LSA B is going dowm the drain pretty fast. If southwestern moved up, I dont think there would be any credibility to the division.

Actually, from what I understand.....the LSA does not get an AQ this year due to the B division having less than 6 teams- which is an absolute shame. They will have to hope for an at-large bid.

IIf Southwestern does not get picked, they should move up to division A.

It really does suck for Southwestern. They have been in the Top 20 nationally for a few years now, maybe more, I don't know. They put together a nice schedule this year, with 3 top ten teams, 4 OOC games, a couple of A-Division games, went 6-4, and beat #10 Augustana. Then they don't get a chance to even play for a conference championship. Add to that no AQ and a 12 team field for the B Division nationals; their shot at an at large bid looks pretty dim.

Just to change the scenery a little bit. If you still have your LSA ticket for last weekend, there is a picture of a Texas A&M player with a Baylor player. Was the person who put that picture on that ticket a prophet? Did he or she fortell that Texas A&M would win the LSA Div. A tourney? j/k

How do you think Karl gets so much done with only 24 hours in a day? He already knows 30% of the future at any given time.

I made this point earlier

I made this post during the merger talk.

Div. B can easily return a six team division depending on what the Div. B invests in making its division viable.

Div. B 2008 could be:

SU
SEU
AC
Trinity
UTA
SFASU
Neuman
UTD
Corpus Christi
Nichols
Centenary
Ole Miss

Instead of standing on the sidelines, make something happen. If you want viability as a division make it happen. It's really not about what Div. A wants unless Div. B is indecisive. There are plenty of teams waiting to come online as Div. B teams. Talk to them. I already have.

My message may be different than another Div. B programs. SFA, UTD, SHSU, Corpus Christi, Loyola NO, Nichols, Centenary should be in Div. B. Stir the pot, see who wants to play. Let them know it is tough to play LSA style.

If Div. B wants an AQ, Div. B teams need to invest in Div. B recruitment.

Nuemann folded their program. They won't field a team next year because of funding.
