Club Lacrosse Funds
Thankfully, our school gives our team some money to pay our league dues and help out with travel. I was wondring, how much do other teams receive (if any) from their school?

This year we received about 25% of our total budget from the school. Next year may be more in the 30-40% range. It is a nice chunk of money that we have at the beginning of the year to handle fall tournies, league dues, and other incidentals while we wait for the dues to roll in.

I tell you this is where you find out how determinded teams are to play the game they love. At Charlotte last year we had no money. We did all we could to raise money for dues, and those awful uniforms we had last year. Travel was all on our own. Luckily our officers made a great presentation to our school for our budget and we got some help this year. My heart goes out that have to work for it all every year!

But somehow I think we get some pocket change here and there ...
Yeah they don't know who you are until they want club dues, charge you for fields, and anything else they can...

Then surprisingly we're at the top of the agenda.... Amazing.

Our school hardly knew we had a team, but we pushed it on campus, did lots of community things, and had live bands for fundraisers. If you have a guy ( or try to get a booster club) that puts a lot of time for fundraising and show the school a meaty budget, they'll give you money. We doubled our fundraising because we had a few articles in the paper comparing our budget to our less expensive clubs ( dance clubs (not girls, but waltz and jigs), unltimate frizbee, etc) and showed how much funding we did, plus our dues to pay. That got thier attension, and we still are way underfunded. But any money is good money. I just can't wait until our team is old enough to start getting some alumni funds, then we'll be sitting pretty.

We recieved about 10% of our budget this year from the university, the rest came from player dues, fundraising, and limited alumni and parent donations.
From what I hear, next year the school is looking to approximately double our funding (through the Rec Sports Dept. lobbying to Student Senate) and potentially create a different tier of club levels for certain sports that are nationally competitive (lacrosse, hockey, etc). This would be great as it could create a more "virtual varsity" program at our school, but I'll believe it when I see it. There's so much bureaucracy at our school that it's hard to count too much on anything (not that I blame Rec Sports, they do what they can with limited resources and field space), but I'm sure it's this way at 95% of MDIA schools.
At USC it seems that they want to see proven success before they give too much help. Our hockey team consistently wins the Pac-8 and goes to Nationals every year (except this down year), and the school helps pay for their travel and gave all players the official Nike SC varsity athelete warm-ups.
