I think the college kids would be great for some of the youth programs, but a jump to varsity or HS immediately...not likely as most programs wont hire you without a degree....

The field issue is not that big of deal now that its nice....

I spoke with this track coach in Orlando only a few weeks ago (my lacrosse team and his track team were training at Disney during the same week). He struck me then as a guy who was terrified of lacrosse and this article proves it I suppose.

Why the comment about chewing up football fields? That is a poor attempt to try to get football coaches to rally against lacrosse... too bad most football coaches like the idea of their football players getting some exercise on the lacrosse team. Not to mention working the same muscle groups and doing football similar drills and concepts.

Nothing makes you a better linebacker like running circles around a track.

Track coaches should be afraid.

Very afraid.

And so should baseball coaches.

My 3/4 lax team went from 16 players last year to 23 this year. Almost a 50% increase. And 7 of them dropped baseball this year to play lax.

That's the third overtime I've seen and we're only in the second week of the season! And even more surprising is they've all involved Eastview!!! Looks like there's going to be some good playoff games this year.

Nice to see Lakeville doing well...I am sure Pierce has done some nice things down there, not to mention 3 years ago they had over 100 kids in their youth program......the schools with strong youth teams are really going to be the dominant forces in the years to come.

As far as lacrosse in the summer and fields and track coaches and all this, I look at it this way and I have been saying this for years. Let me prefice this by saying that lacrosse on the East coast is also a Spring sport. With that said, the only way MN is going to start making a name for itself over and above the "lacrosse guys are very physical because they are all hockey players" is when the best football, soccer, hockey, and basketball players start playing lacrosse. We have sent several kids to DI,II, and III schools but we have yet (with the exception of maybe Hurley) sent the big, quick defensemen or the 6'3", 230lb midfielder to a college.

In the next few years, lacrosse will continue to grow but a change will also come when most schools have their starting D line as defense, the starting point guard playing middie next to the All-state wide receiver, the starting hockey goalie in cage, and the attack is made up of 6'5 basketball players and tight ends.

Just a clarification. Prescient, it means that he's saying things that will happen before they happen, like foresight kind of, i don't believe Rob meant anything about him being president. Unless i'm wrong....
