WNBA Draft

The point of the conversation seems to be (with the exception of one post) that the WNBA is boring and unworthy of television coverage (especially for the draft in this case).

Men rolling their eyes at the WNBA is perhaps the most dead of dead horses. We get it. It's not as good as the NBA... let it go.

Not necessarily men attacking a womens league - its just funny that they are a pro sport, yet - have no coverage (its more entertaining to ponder how they have the draft right after the championship - THE DAY AFTER?!?!). I thought that was the intial tone of this post. Yes, some people made a joke....some find it funny, some dont.... I dont really think its worth complaining about what these individuals personal opinions are (it is a message board) , like me for example, I find anything that isnt D1 football...not real football... Im sure numerous people would disagree with me....

Better TV coverage than the NHL on OLN, er, Verses, or Versus, or Venus. Whatever.

10 years of ABC/ESPN shoving the WNBA down our throats, millions of dollars wasted, thousands and thousands and thousands of empty seats, barely a pulse showing.

Does anybody really care about the WNBA outside of a handful of people in Hartford?

I think it is great that there is a professional league for womens basketball, and if they can get the TV time, all the more power to them. But, I personally have no interest in watching womens basketball and I would probably never tune in or buy a ticket for a game.

Knowing someone employeed by one of these teams...their opperations and costs are actually very low...if you are employeed by the Lakers, you work for the Sparks as well....the same employees work for both teams, so the only people you really have to pay are the players and coaches...its basically very inexpensive for the Owners to run these teams, however, I do find it puzzling that the WNBA is losing money as a league (espically with guarenteed TV deals that are tied off of the NBA deals)....

Agreed. I think the fact that people complain about the WNBA speaks voloumes. If you don't like it, ignore it, like I do with Nascar. I don't complaing about Nascar being around.

I am happy that my daughter gets to grow up in a country where women have athletic opportunities, even professional opportunities. My sisters did not have the same opportunities.

yeah they are opportunities but ESPN reported that Cadice Parker could make up to 1 MILLION a year going to play in Europe. So, yes it is great for woman's athletics but if my daughter had a chance to play in the WNBA (where only a small majority cares) and make 30,000 a year or triple that over seas, see ya!

Its not that bad to watch because they shoot lights out (unlike the NBA) and play defence (UNLIKE THE NBA), but its no Carmelo, Lebron, Kobe or D Wade

I doubt the WNBA (or any other pro league) is going to allow one of their players to play in an alternate professional league.
