Common Courtesy in a College game???? I guess UO should have let up and beat CSU by less too?? It all counts for the polls

you could also make the argument that letting up, passing the ball around and not shooting is insulting to the opposing team.

Somebody at the game would have to clear this up. But unless SFU was just taking the ball and firing shot after shot, I don't see the problem.

That is a little different

CSU is the defending champions and Idaho has never won a game. No offense to Idaho, as they're a developing program taking strides each year, but winning 10-2 or 29-2 over them has zero affect on the polls for SFU.

I do understand what you're saying though

As a player on a team that used to lose games by 20+ goals I can say that the most enraging thing in the world is when a team gets the ball in the offensive box and holds it, or simply passes between two players and doesn't attempt anything. If they keep taking shots you are at least letting the D and goalie try and stop you. While 29-2 is quite the margin, I think I would prefer seeing that as opposed to a 10-2 win where SFU just held it and no one got to play any lacrosse for a half.

SFU did have 16 different goal scorers... you can't blame them for having a talented bench.

I still think Ryan and his Vandals have done some great things for the continued success of lacrosse in Moscow, you just can't expect them to be on the level of SFU... not many teams are.

As another note, I still have vivid memories of losing to Oregon in 2004 to the tune of 28-2. It wasn't fun, but it was also a huge turning point for our program.

i think that 29 -2 is ridiculous. i would have no problem with a 20 or 21 - 2 score but 29 does seem a little unneccesary. i certainly didn't see the game, but it does seem like rubbing it in idaho's face. you can do other things besides just pass back and forth. get the bench in, work on certain plays, have a certain number of passes before shooting, etc. doing things like that can certainly make a game still interesting and give an overmatched team useful experience.

well look at it this way... would anyone be this upset about the situation if idaho came out and upset sfu 29-2? or would they be praising idaho? the truth is goals get scored... and every team gets beat big... i have been apart of both senerios and it happens... sometimes it takes a big loss to get your butt in gear...

As for the 29-2 score..life comes at you fast. This is what I would refer to as a transitional year for the University of Idaho. I've been involved with lacrosse for a long time and this is by far the worst loss I have ever faced. However, my guys only took 2 penalties for the entire game, that has to say something. They didn't just curl up and take it, they played. SFU has a great program and I have a 14 man roster riddled with injuries. There is no excuse to lose so there should be no excuse to win. Yeah it's a pretty bad loss and yeah it's a pretty tough pill to swallow but that's why we play sports. There is always the risk of getting beaten and there is always a risk of that beating being pretty excessive, that's how rivalries are born. My guys came off the field with nothing but praise for most, if not all of SFU's players and coaching staff. It's a part of life and I will promise you that we will grow stronger from this loss.

Should could woulda's are for those who will continue to get kicked in the ribs. I welcome the challenge of a strong SFU team any day of the week, especially if I was still playing. That's why my guys will look forward to the next meeting. We learn more from our worst failures than our greatest successes and that's mostly due to the sting.

Thanks SFU for hosting us this weekend, we look forward to seeing you next year and wish you luck in the rest of the 2007 season.

Thanks Dan, this was a great way to cap off our western swing! Thanks to SFU and UW for hosting us this weekend. We look forward to many more! I look forward to continuing with the UI program and I promise these guys will only get stronger. Losing is not in my vocabulary and I hope it isn't in anyones who has ever picked up a stick. This program is on the up and up. We wish both SFU and UW luck on the rest of your seasons.

well that should put to rest any complaints of running up the score. If the coach of the losing team does not complain then what right do the rest of us have to. Sounds like he has the right kind of attitude, i have a buddy who plays for U of I(Jake Ballard), and all he talked about when i saw him over the summer was how the losing sucked but that he felt like the team had a lot of room to improve this year. Hopefully they'll continue to take their lumps and use these losses as fuel for their fire in years to come. I know that kind of loss would be in my pregame speech every time i played sfu from here on out.

They would HAVE to go D1...that is their only option since they are affiliated with the Pac-10. You can bump up for sports (DIII Hopkins)...but not down. That's why you see so many colleges with DI basketball teams that are D2 or D3 in everything else.

I hope people realize how HUGE of a weekend it is for Oregon having beaten 2 of (if not THE) historically best programs in the MCLA or USLIA.

As a former coach to many of the Ducks, both at Lakeridge and on different summer teams, I want to say WAY TO GO! You guys make all of us proud of Oregon lacrosse and it shows how far lacrosse here in the state has come. I know the Ducks are more than simply a team full of Oregonians with some Californians, Washingtonians and Canadians on the roster, but one can interpret the weekend's showing to make a case for the state of lacrosse here in Oregon. To make a resounding statement like that against CSU and SSU is impressive, to say the least. Congrats to all the players--from all the states and countries represented on the impressive roster, your coaching staff and all the alum that have put in the time and effort to make the Ducks what they have become.
That said, as noted above, it is way too early to start patting each other on the back for a great season. Take care of business and have fun. Can't wait to catch you guys up here in P-Town.
My hat is most definitely off to you. Great flippin' job!

Laxpower shows the Dominican vs. Southern Oregon game as a double-overtime thriller. . .can we can any details from this game? Laxpower shows the score as 9-8 Dominican. If that's the case, it's another impressive showing by the Raiders. . .

6 games now against California competition. . .it's about time you started playing again in the PNCLL. . .

Dominican is a much improved team compared to last year. Ned Webster is obviously a good teacher as his offense demonstrated great spacing, good ball-movement, and the ability to put themselves in the right places at the right times. The game was tied at the end of the first 2-2. Dominican then shut us out for the next two and a half quarters leading 6-2 w/ about 8 mins to go. Our offense finally got on track and took the lead 7-6. Dominican tied the game at 7-7 and then we answered to regain the lead 8-7. With under a minute to go we committed a slashing penalty and Dominican capitalized to send the game in to OT. Both goalies made some very impressive saves to send it to 2 OT where Dominican scored the game winner. Three weekends in a row on the road proved to be too much for us but we definitely learned a lot.

Congrats to U of O for their HUGE WINS!!!!
