Non-lacrosse specific topics.

Shouldn't this topic have a spoiler warning? Luckily I just watched Monday's episodes a few minutes ago or else I would've been pretty upset!

Great scene of Jack crying after killing Curtis. And he continues the great acting when he sees the mushroom cloud.

The CTU love triangle is already on my nerves big time. Unless it makes a difference later in the season, get rid of it.

The civil rights sub-plot is a good discussion starter, although I completely disagree with pretty much all of the President's COS' beliefs.

Was Assad still at the warehouse when CTU stormed it, or did he say he was going ahead to the safe house? And regardless of whether he left or not, the weapon expert is dead. If there are three more bombs, who is going to do the work on them? If they don't need this guy, why risk so much breaking him out of prison for that one bomb?

Hmmm... think that's all I have for now.

You are probably right there jesse. The show is going to painful depths to avoid casting Muslims as anything other then fantastic citizens and every white male in power is evil.

Curtis is dead, according to the 24 website.

9:55 A.M.
Jack drops his gun and raises his hands in a gesture not of surrender but of despair at Curtis’s death. Jack walks away in tears. He vomits and falls to the ground.

And you're right, Sonny. 24 keeps having muslim terrorists as the main enemy in the show, but they're doing nothing but casting them as fantastic citizens.

Hit US television show "24" came under fire from a Muslim group, which accused the program's makers of fueling anti-Muslim prejudice with its latest storyline...

"The program's repeated association of acts of terrorism with Islam will only serve to increase anti-Muslim prejudice in our society," it added.

Representatives of the award-winning series responded by pointing out that during the show's five seasons villains have included Americans, Baltic Europeans, Germans, Russians, Islamic fundamentalists and the fictional president of the United States.

Aren't the real world activities of Muslim terrorists more to blame for anti-Muslim prejudice? I'd say that in a nation that watched 3,000 people murdered live on national television the activities of fictional characters would be irrelevant to the concerns of the citizens. I am obviously not condoning prejudice of anyone for any reason. Let's just make sure we are blaming the right people here, Muslim terrorists or Hollywood writers?

While I tend to agree with you, I can see where thus Muslim group is coming from. They have a bad enough image as it is without TV shows perpetuating stereotypes. Most Muslims are good people, but when we see a Muslim on TV or in a movie, it usually doesn't reflect that. With a few notable exceptions (e.g. Crash), Muslims don't often get portrayed in a normal, every day manner in American media, which doesn't help the perception.

That being said, like the producers mentioned, 24 has gone to lengths to have diverse terrorists from all over the globe, so its not like they are singling out Muslims on the show.

Apparently the creators of 24 forgot that whenever you have bad guys in a show...they always have to be a culture that's never been a bad guy before so that people aren't offended. Eskimo terrorists, South American 2 Toed Sloths, etc.

At least that's what they taught us at Lollipop Lane Film School. Speaking of that...the movie Slapshot MUST be taken off the shelves because I am sick of hockey players being associated with fighting, beer-drinking and swearing...
Barry Badrinath: Oh man, that's the most disgusting thing I've ever drank.

It is possible that some of you may have used this link before, but you can check out 6 seasons of "24" at this link:

http://www.tv-links.co.uk

You can click on any episode and watch it on your computer. That was when I saw my colleague looking at the most recent episode of "24" from last Monday on the computer.

Is this a joke? What's next? Are you gonna tell me that Americans have inflicted violence against each other in recent history?

How is "man shot to death by radical Muslims" any different than "Joe Smith killed Harry Jones in Crapville, Arkansas for stealing his piece of bubble gum?"

In addition, I can't believe you are using Iraq as an example.

Such outlandish examples.
Monica Lewinsky had more president in her than George Bush ever will.

the one show that if you miss one episode messes up the entire season. Thats y i cant watch it. We had a case last night where we had practice, and the one kid that has been to every single practice and conditioning wasnt there. I bumped into him today, and he was like, "its ok bro, 24 was on." The question for all of you is how many spots on the depth chart should he fall?

If you take the examples at face value, they would be different because the murders perpetrated by radical Muslims were driven by ideology and an intolerance for other's beliefs while Joe Smith killed to steal someone else's property. Now that Joe Smith has the property he so coveted, he might not kill again. The radical Muslim however will continue to kill all he views to be infidels in the effort to convert the world to Islam. That is of course accepting the list's classification of the killers as radical Muslims.

Once again you're talking a lot without actually saying anything. How does this prove that there is no terror perpetrated by people that aren't muslims? I could probably give you a list of 20 murders committed by white males in Georgia in the last year. Does this mean that all murders in the last year in Georgia were committed by white males? Does this mean I need to fear you, Sonny? Does this mean that every time a white male in Georgia does something wrong, I have to blame all white males in Georgia? Does this mean that I can make blanket statements on all white males from Georgia based on the actions of a small minority of them? Your clear hate/fear/whatever you want to call it of Muslims is dangerous and scary, Sonny.

The armed insurgency in Nagaland began soon after much of the local population converted to Christianity. Many militant groups, seeking to secede from India to form an independent Christian state, are funded and armed by the Southern Baptist Church. Some of the groups such as the National Liberation Front of Tripura have been involved in a campaign of “gunpoint conversions” and “ethnic cleansing” of native non-Christians, which has left over 50,000 dead and many more refugees over the past two decades.

http://www.adl.org/PresRele/Teror_92/4264_72.htm

New York, NY, June 3, 2003 … In the days since the arrest of domestic terrorist Eric Robert Rudolph in connection with a series of deadly bombing attacks, including the 1996 bombing at the Olympic Games, extremist chatter on the Internet has praised Rudolph as "a hero" and some followers of hate groups are calling for further acts of violence to be modeled after the bombings he is accused of committing.

Rudolph had connections from childhood to a number of anti-Semitic, racist and anti-government movements or groups, especially Christian Identity such as the North Carolina-based Northpoint Tactical Teams, founded by the now-deceased Nord Davis Jr., and the Missouri-based Church of Israel headed by Dan Gayman.

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Re ... sp?ID=8207

"IS HE A ‘CHRISTIAN TERRORIST’?" That is the question raised by Washington Post Staff Writer Alan Cooperman this week about just-arrested Eric Robert Rudolph, the alleged bomber of the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and an Alabama abortion clinic.

"If Christians take umbrage at the juxtaposition of the words ‘Christian’ and ‘terrorist,’" Idaho State University sociologist James A. Aho told Cooperman, "that may give them some idea of how Muslims feel" when hearing the term "Islamic terrorism."

http://www.irr.org.uk/2004/september/ak000004.html

New study highlights discrimination in use of anti-terror laws

The Institute of Race Relations publishes today a catalogue that details how hundreds of Muslims have been arrested under terrorism powers before being released without charge; how the special powers granted by parliament to tackle terrorism are being deployed in other spheres, such as in routine criminal investigations or in the policing of immigration; how the media have become 'embedded' in a process that leads to the stigmatisation of Muslims as terrorists.

Yet the facts show that most convictions secured in an open court under the 2000 and 2001 Terrorism Acts have been of non-Muslims.
