An impressive win for the Wolverines. Is this their year to finally win that elusive championship?
We may have to wait and see the results from the BYU game, but what do you all think?
Is this finally UMs year?

we all have seen how michigan ends up playing at nationals. no matter how good they were, they never seem to make it past the quarter-finals. we will have to wait and see. Arizona and BYU are pretty much their only tough games this year, that may prove to be a disadvantage in the later stages of the national championships, just like the past.

I might venture to say that this is the year they get to the semi's but no further than that.
CSU vs Michigan
UCSB vs SSU
Final four
CSU over UCSB for another odd year championship for Flip and the rams.

Having played for michigan, I can say I'm really happy with yesterday's win. It is the first time we have ever won a big road game. I think playing well on the road has hurt us, and winning one big game on the road might be what they need to get the monkey off their back. This is just the first step. We'll see what happens with BYU. If they win that game, they've got a chance to get a real good seed, which will set them up for a decent quarterfinal matchup.

It's interesting to see that most of Michigan's scoring was done by their freshmen. Both Mich and AZ have good defenses, but Arizona's big scorers (Paris, Polheber) were shut down while new faces stepped up for Michigan. Michigan is certainly going to be a contender this year, but can they be carried by young guys on offense?

Michigan Injuries
I know they're just part of the game, but are UMs injuries any more extensive than most of the top tier teams? Their #1 & #2 returning scorers from last year's attack are out for another couple weeks as well as one of their middies. Are other top teams facing about this same level?

In this league... the short answer is a resounding yes. In any league, yes, although the higher you go the fewer freshman impact players there are.

i am sure they will be tough games. i guess i can explain what i meant by tough (that may not be the right word for it). the five teams above are good teams, but generally in the past have any of them gotten past the qaurters? the BYU game this weekend is going to be a good gauge of what michigan can do this year and how they rank with higher teired teams in the league, UCSB, CSU, BYU and SSU.

so you are putting michigan past the quarters? i would put colorado and oakland as the next closest teams to michigan for breaking through to the semi's. Oregon, Florida, Miami are just below them in the 8-25 revolving door.

Michigan
I watched Michigan play BYU in Provo on Saturday. Both teams exhibited some good qualities, but they are both small and somewhat tentative on the field. Michigan played a very fast game with a lot of transition goals. Their settled offense left something to be desired however. They are young and will take time to gel. But, they could be a darkhorse contender. By the way, is Utah ranked yet? Talk about underrated, these guys get no respect. Who's going to win the RMLC?

Dominated Oakland
Obviously the National is still a ways off, but last night Michigan rolled over Oakland 11-1. If the CCLA tournament brings a similar result, Michigan may enter the National with more confidence than in years past, but then again, I think they entered the National with a one or two seed a couple years back with the same result.
That's why they play the games and we watch.

They consistently choke at Nationals, so it would probably be silly to pick them. That being said-holding Oakland to one goal is very impressive.
