Fair response Sonny - you are correct. But that doesn't make it "right".

I Personally think so Joe Maturi (AD) should get axed, who offers coaches major ($$$$) extentions then fires them the next year??

Who are the front runners for the football and basketball jobs. I have heard the names of bobby knight or Flip Saunders for bball and Tony Dungy, Mike Tice, Mike Grant. for football. I would personally love to see tice and knight as they are both great for soundbites......

I cant understand why Maturi would give Mason a raise. Everybody knew things were not right with the football program for years. Thats like buying new furniture for the Titanic.

I also dont know why Tony Dungy would leave a Super Bowl caliber team and Payton Manning to come to a struggling University of Minnesota team.

Ive also heard DeWayne Walker's name thrown around. Being the defensive coordinator for UCLA, he has often been credited with the USC defeat. I believe that he is also a Gopher alumni if I am not mistaken. It would be great to see him take over.

Mike Grant would be a terrible hire and I hope his name coming up is only some one at the Star Tribune attempting to flatter him.

The Gophers waited too long in the game to get a good coach. They will end up with an unproven coordinator at best while paying out the rest of Glen Mason's contract.

Not the best idea for an athletic department that has struggled financially over the years...
