St. Louis University has all the makings for an NCAA D-I lacrosse program. They are the only D-I school in St. Louis and Hermann Stadium is an amazing facility with some of the best natural grass I have ever seen. It would be a great intimate venue to host lacrosse games as it holds about 6,500. The AD at SLU told me that they won't consider adding LAX until they can get the current sports they already have funded at higher levels.

During the growing season, I believe they mow it around 3/4 time a week. It is absolutley perfect. During soccer games, at timeouts and halftime, they have ground crews go out and repair divots and such.
I agree with you Jack, it would be perfect venue for lacrosse. Hopefully when the new Arena opens it will provide a larger revenue stream and a D1 squad can get funded. I'm officially throwing my hat in the ring for the inaugural coaching position.

Of course. It was a year after Fulmer graduated.
As for UCSB, the airport there is fantastic. Two gates, maybe. A main runway that can handle 747s. I fly through there several times a year on the way down to LAX. Plus, I got family in Ojai and Camarillo.

This was in the paper today. It took a while for it to come out because they only release one issue during dead week.
No. Our lacrosse goals were not thrown into the ocean after we won the Championship. And I'm happy for that because the administration would not have bought us new goals. Two years ago, UCSB soccer won its first home playoff game. Harder stadium was filled to capacity (~11,000). There was a streaker at half time who managed to hop over a barbed wire fence to avoid getting a slap on the wrist from security. After UCSB won, the students flooded the field and attempted to carry the goal a few blocks down the street to the ocean, but were stopped by the police.
That is what happens when you have a huge party school with no football team. The smaller sports get a lot of publicity. I'm sure UCLA would not have celebrated that way. The football team was cut in 1992 because they sucked. There are rumors about starting it up again, but that will never happen.
When the final seconds ticked off the clock at the College Cup game in St. Louis, Gauchos across Isla Vista and Missouri erupted in a spontaneous series of "Ole's," celebrating the men's soccer team's victory over UCLA, which gained UCSB its first NCAA Championship in almost 30 years.

That takes guts (or something else) to jump a barbed wire fence naked...Lots of opportunity to "snag" something
