GV, you don't have to go too far away. This was from our own Grand Rapids Press yesterday, regarding a women that was being sentenced to 60 years in prison;

Winkler, 21, of Grand Rapids, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the July 2005 death of her 2-year-old daughter, Aiyana Cisneros. The little girl had a ruptured spleen, collapsed lung, lacerated liver, all but two ribs broken, a separated collarbone and injuries to her head. She had been sexually assaulted.
Kent County Circuit Judge James Redford said pictures of the victim's battered body "are images that will stay with me the rest of my life.
"It's unbelievable how horrible this poor child's life was at the end."

I happen to know this judge very well, and siting on cases like this have to make you want to just throw up sometimes.

There was another Michigan sentencing yesterday of a mom that beat her foster son to death with a hammer because "she hated him". She and her husband then went on TV saying he was missing, had the big manhunt, etc., all the time knowing exactly where his dead body was. The judge was choking up as she said it gave her great pleasure to sentence her to whatever long term she got.

Sick, sick, sick.

Man accused of trying to force wife into oven on Thanksgiving

Associated Press Published on: 11/30/06

A Decatur man has been arrested after allegedly trying to force his estranged wife into an oven on Thanksgiving in front of their five children.

Martin Luther Jackson, 31, has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, cruelty to children and possession of marijuana after the Nov. 23 incident, said Sgt. Jodi Shupe of the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office.

Jackson and his 29-year-old wife, who have been separated since July, have five children ranging in age from 1 to 13 years old, Shupe said. Jackson apparently started fighting with his wife after she and the children returned to their Conyers home on Thanksgiving.

At one point during the fight, Jackson allegedly attempted to stuff his wife inside the kitchen oven, which had been left on to heat the house, Shupe said. The woman escaped and went to the sheriff's office with visible head injuries, Shupe said.

Investigators found Jackson hiding under a bed at his mother's house in Decatur, where he had been living since the separation, Shupe said.
