I do enjoy that in the eyes of some, FoxNews is a propoganda machine run by the evil conservative mastermind Rupert Murdoch while CNN is a beacon of truth owned by the benevolent Ted Turner because of his strong sense of moral obigation to deliver the news to the masses. Rather idiotic, no?

To me, OJ Simpson is a striking example of what is going wrong in our country. We live in a place where a man can murder two people and then be found not guilty as a result of his wealth, the incompetence of the prosecutor, the slander of a police officer, the deviousness of his defense attorney, and the fear of violence a guilty verdict might bring. No one should give that murderer a moment of their time by either watching the interview or reading his book.

I wouldn't necessarily say that the prosecuter was incompetant...they proved endlessly how guilty he was. I blame the jury. And I cant get over the fact that there was a threat of rioting over the verdict -> "He didnt commit a crime and murder those people...let's cause violence!".

And Ricky Williams got a lot of crap for wanting to smoke and do Yoga. He said the heck with it, I'm not beating my body up for anyone.

I'm all for free will. But there is a slight difference - RW was under a multi-year contract and he abandoned his team (the Dolphins) on the edge of training camp (after the draft).

And the most important thing...the kids. Kids idolize sports players as heroes. Imagine all of the young kids in America that were Ricky Williams fans...turning on Sportscenter one day to see their hero breaking tackles and scoring touchdowns...only to find he ditched out of his team to do something the child's parents have claimed to be bad (drugs). When you sign a pro sports contract you realize what kind of attention/effect you have upon millions of people. Way to go Ricky, you are worthless and a terrible role model.

I wonder what those "racist" LA poice detectives are thinking about all this?

By the way, I read somewhere that the Goldmans will probably not be able to get at whatever revenue may be generated here as good lawyering prior to making the book deal can structure ways to keep this out of their hands. Sad but true.

Here is the statement that the publisher of the book and who conducted the interview. It's pretty shocking and I'm still trying to get my head around it.

Regan: Why I did it

Couple of interesting parts from it...

Why she wanted the interview:
I wanted it because I had once been that young woman who loved with all of her heart and believed in the goodness of man, the trusting girl who fell for the guy, who believed in the beauty of romance, the power of love, the joy of family and the miracle of motherhood. Like Nicole Brown, I believed with all my heart . . . and then got punched in the face.

Literally.

Conviction, or lack thereof, is the story of the trial of the century. Where was that sense of conviction when racist police officers abused and battered their victims? Where was that sense of conviction when Nicole Brown was being battered and people stood by and let him get away with it time and time again? Where was it when NBC kept him on the air when they were sure to know? Where was it when the Browns lost custody of the children, who were sent to be raised by the narcissist who killed their mother? Where was it when Fred Goldman, who lost his beautiful son, won a civil judgment, but was unable to collect it?

Where was it?

I never lost my desire for his conviction. And if Marcia Clark couldn’t do it. I sure wanted to try.

On "killers" confessions ( i put it in quotes since he was acquitted"
I have not spent a lifetime in the study of deception detection, but ex-CIA specialist Phil Houston has. “When killers confess,” he told me, “the way they often do it is by creating a hypothetical”—and then they spill their guts.

For many of them, it is the only way to tell the truth.

Looks like he won't make anything from it

What I do know is I didn’t pay him. I contracted through a third party who owns the rights, and I was told the money would go to his children. That much I could live with

Take a minute to read it. Like I said I'm having trouble getting my head around it, but it is definitely looks like a pretty calculated move.[/url]

There, there Sonny! The Dolphins will win again someday. Until then just count undefeated Super Bowl winning season teams while you drift off to sleep. Remember: Laces out! Einhorn is Finkel! Finkel is Einhorn!

But the point is, with increased consolidation, it's what you DON't see that is important, as companies may practice self-censorship - and the options for other sources of information decrease. The web is certainly one option, but it can also be a source of unvetted information - fact-checking standards may not be as high as with "traditional" media.

I wonder if Bill O'Reilly is going to weigh in on his during his "Talking Points." After all, Fox is the source for morality in this country.

O'Reilly rips Murdoch, book, show

BY GEORGE RUSH and CORKY SIEMASZKO
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITERS

Rupert Murdoch was said to be unavailable for comment on his Fox News' stars attack on the O.J. book and TV tie-in.
Fox News firebrand Bill O'Reilly threatened yesterday to whack Rupert Murdoch in the wallet for promoting O.J. Simpson's how-I-murdered-my-wife book.
Vowing to boycott any company that advertises on Fox's two-part special hyping O.J.'s "If I Did It," O'Reilly declared: "If every American walked away from the O.J. garbage, it wouldn't happen."

I think I will take the new media's "fact checking"/distribution methods over the days of old when 3 news anchors were the gate-keepers of news information. And that is not even considering when the so-called traditional media use fake or forged documents/photographs to make their case.

Looks like Fox pulled the plug....

O.J. Simpson Book, TV Special Canceled:

After a firestorm of criticism, News. Corp. said Monday that it has canceled the O.J. Simpson book and television special "If I Did It."

"I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project," said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. chairman. "We are sorry for any pain that his has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson."

A dozen Fox affiliates had already said they would not air the two- part sweeps month special, planned for next week before the Nov. 30 publication of the book by ReganBooks. The publishing house is a HarperCollins imprint owned _ like the Fox network _ by News Corp.
