The pension is protected income under the laws of ERISA.

He cannot be retried again under the "double jeopardy" clause of the Constitution. The Goldman family just lost their bid in a California court to take control of OJ's name and the money he makes off of that.

If you ever want to see OJ, try hanging out at his home golf course, Miccosukee Golf Club in Miami. Seen him there twice. He seemed to be chasing the white ball more adamantly than the killer.

This article has a bit of an explanation of things toward the end...it's also a pretty good article all together.

O.J. to Say How He Could Have Done It

One expert noted that the justice system's protection against double jeopardy means Simpson's book, explosive as it may be, should not expose him to any new legal danger.

"He can write pretty much whatever he wants," said Laurie Levenson, a Loyola University law school professor and former federal prosecutor who has followed the case closely. "Unless he's confessing to killing somebody else, he can probably do this with impunity."

I wonder if Bill O'Reilly is going to weigh in on his during his "Talking Points." After all, Fox is the source for morality in this country.

I believe this report on OJ is coming via the Fox Entertainment division, not Fox News.

What's your point? ABC owns ESPN, ABC News, Disney - They are all run seperately - even though they have the same parent organization.

Is Bill O'Reilly an employee of Fox? Surely he would have a problem with such entertainment being on his station/company/subsidiary, no?

Maybe, maybe not. Regardless, since he is not the president of Fox - I don't think it's his decision.

Haha, I was right. O'Reilly actually said something about it. Props to him.

Edit: Of course he had to lie and say that Fox Broadcasting is not related to Fox News. Sigh

you know for what it is worth, I think this whole thing is pretty damn tasteless. People were murdered and the guy at the center of it all has written a book about how it would have went down "if" he had done it. I can't believe any reputable publisher would have picked this up. Same pretty much goes with the interview, why even give OJ the time to plug his book.

I don't watch BOR and I don't necessarily approve with giving the Juice some air time - but how exactly is this a lie? I'm sure they are seperately run divisions - just like many other large media companies. Ever heard of Time Warner/AOL/CNN/TBS/TNT/Turner Broadcasting. Do you think the news jockeys at CNN get to tell the folks at TNT what they can show?

IMHO, you are really grasping at straws here.

I don't understand what O'Reilly has to do with it anyway. I do enjoy that in the eyes of some, FoxNews is a propoganda machine run by the evil conservative mastermind Rupert Murdoch while CNN is a beacon of truth owned by the benevolent Ted Turner because of his strong sense of moral obigation to deliver the news to the masses. Rather idiotic, no?

To me, OJ Simpson is a striking example of what is going wrong in our country. We live in a place where a man can murder two people and then be found not guilty as a result of his wealth, the incompetence of the prosecutor, the slander of a police officer, the deviousness of his defense attorney, and the fear of violence a guilty verdict might bring. No one should give that murderer a moment of their time by either watching the interview or reading his book.

I believe the answer is - It's All About the Benjamins! If the publisher thought - "no one will buy this" and the broadcaster felt "no one will watch this" - it wouldn't be happening. Instead, it will draw big numbers as people sit transfixed - not believing the arrogance of the guy, and he'll sell a few copies as well. I hope the Goldmans can claim some of those earnings.

As far as the consolidation of media in the country and world - I don't think that's a good thing. While they nominally may be separately run divisions, at some point, higher up, that org chart will come together - nad that's where the real power lies. There is also the comment that "stuff flows downhill". Synergies can easily become collusions and/or censorship.
