Florida to bring "ringers out the wazzoo"

Postby G8RLAX on Fri Jul 28, 2006 3:36 pm

Sonny- I apologize, I was saying that I was talking to the Auburn guys and they were saying that Jason was going to be playing for TN at the tournament. My bad.

Is UCF's Incredible Hulk in goal for UF's squad again this year? That kid was a warrior...

Ken: Get the Hulk a pack of raw meat instead of a cup for the beverages in the barrel.

And yes Lewin is playing for AU, he likes the guys on their team better as they're a better fit with his mouth running/movie star type persona, but he still thinks Auburn sucks.

If Lewin is suiting up for Auburn, the flags will be down early and often!

Wait! How can this be? Lewin is a two-time SELC champion (though he loses points for being Canadienne).

What does Auburn know about championships? Huh? What? Oh, sorry! Allow me to remove my two SELC rings from my ears. What was that you were saying, Auburn fan? You won an SELC title? Ah, yes... but no team has won more SELC titles that America's Team. Then again, you could have gone to VPI!

How many does Tennessee have?

All I can find is 4 - '00, '99, '94 & '93
Vanderbilt has 4 as well - '95, '92, '89 & '88.

But I guess you're technically correct, no one has won MORE. :)

Next is Georgia, GT & Auburn with 2 each

Wait a minute! The first SELC championship game was in 1990, wasn't it Sonny? If that is the case, then America's Team has won four titles in the modern era. Juggernaut! Juggernaut! Juggernaut!

How many does VPI have again?

Your definition of the "Modern Era" is deleting the first two years of the SELC (1989 at Vanderbilt and 1988 at Auburn). ;)

By doing this, you know that you are legitimizing "Circus Head" and the rest of those Vandy clowns, don't you? Those two years were in a time when teams were able to, well, accomdate the same eligibility rules that this seem to rival those of the upcoming SELC "ALUMNI" Tournament.

So be it, America's Team went back-to-back (-to-back AAU..ah forget it!) not once, but TWICE!

Not a sermon. Just a fact.

America's Team

Who says rebuilding doesn't take the better part of a decade?

I believe VPI just won their first. Didn't they join the league so they could crush everyone in their path every year and go to the Nationals untouched? This after they were snubbed by the selection committee for being an "independent" in '99. I believe the quote was "You're no Notre Dame."

Kudos to all the teams that stood in their way...especially the first one.

And it only took seven complete seasons!

Man, the GRLC forum is a lot more boring. We just get "wonderful" posts from St. Louis people telling us how great Justin Combs is as well as Mizzou people pretending to be Wash U people so they can talk crap about Lindenwood.

So.......what is everyone's predictions for the weekend.I obviously am pretty certain that Auburn will do well. I know they have Garibaldi/Bazar/ Celery/ and a few others that I believe all played in the 98-2004 timeframe (pretty much when Auburn had a really good program). As for the other teams, I'm really not sure. I obviously know that Florida should do better than anyone else since they have built an "Ivan Drago" style team, but I guess I will need to wait for results from the weekend. Speaking of Florida, can we at least hear who the biggest ringer is gonna be?

predictions

Postby Ken Lovic on Mon Jul 31, 2006 10:52 am

AU- will start fighting about the 3rd quarter of game #2.. amongst themelves. They will be 1 hour late Sunday and blame it on the time zone and unless Zenzinger is there will lose. Love ya chef!

UT- will ironman once again with 11 guys and win any OT game they have. It will be a long first day but they seem to aways bring one hot cheerleader each year.

UGA- first timer, but if they can get Waldo out of retirement have a shot. They should have a solid team with many local alum but as a GT guy I am worried if any f them actually graduated  the fields have a unique look to them which could distract Waldo as well.

GT- well, as always our alum base reaches all corners. Gary Gait worked a camp of ours 5 years ago so he's in. The Powell's have a brother living in GA so they are associated with GT now. That is our attack. Kyle Harrison played at JHU and we played Texas there 3 years ago so he's in. I met Brodie Merrill once so that counts as a GT connection. He's in. Other than that we have some random guys that played at GT once.

UF- the group will sleep at Oasis and miss Sunday's games. Their team will be stacked with the hulk in goal and Danny "eye black" hogan leading the offense. On the field their ringer is Dave Adams himself. Dave has been working out since last years 2 minutes of playing time and will bring his A game and be the X factor. I bet the ringer is a member of O-Town or maybe even a B-more guy (gasp, could it be). Or, they will be smart and ISO me at every chance.

either way, should be fun!!!!

I thought UF was heavily recruiting Lance Bass? Something about... not holding up from loose ball pushes from behind were his only weakness on the field. He's the true X factor.
