Hopkins, First Team Academic All-American 2000, Student Athlete of the Year 2000, First Team STX/USILA All-American 1999-2000, Academic Player of the Year in the NYCAC 2000, and Player of the Year, Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference 2000, has accepted the Head Coaching position for Arizona State University Men’s Lacrosse.
In 2002 as Head Coach, Hopkins led the University of Arizona Lacrosse Team to the WCLL South Regular Season Title and into the WCLL Semifinals and National Quarterfinals. After Hopkins coaching stint at the University of Arizona in 2001-2002, he returned to New York Institute of Technology completing his Masters in Counseling in May 2006 with a 3.81 GPA. As the Defensive Coordinator for NYIT, Hopkins supervised all academic areas for college lacrosse including study hall, advisory appointments, and student professor relations. Hopkins mentored and advised student athletes on the necessity of academic progress and achievement, coordinating study programs, providing study skills lessons and overall advisement for their educational and athletic success.
Hopkins is in the process of forming Elite Lacrosse LLC, an Arizona company devoted to one-on-one training for lacrosse players. The ASU Team position combined with Elite Lacrosse, will allow his daily focus to be solely devoted to making Arizona lacrosse the finest in the country.
The ASU Men’s Lacrosse program has a firm foundation laid by their retiring Coach, Jon Minder. Now the team has taken a strong step forward and under Hopkins’ leadership they can prepare for the National Championship!
