Our team's president (Jesse Kurtz) and I recently received an e-mail from a UMLL school asking if we wanted to schedule a game or two with them since they have some free weekends and so do we. Then Jesse told me we couldn't do that or else we'd get fined by the league for scheduling games that we didn't schedule back in October.
I have a couple of questions about this:
1) Is that seriously true?
2) If it is, why is it a fineable offense for two teams who just want to play some lacrosse to get together even if it wasn't planned ahead 3 months in advance?
I appriciate any insight any of you can give.

The new MDIA-MDOC contract requires a fine of $50(?) for games changed after the deadline, although I think it talks more about cancellations and date changes. I believe the reasoning comes down to CAA's having to find and schedule officials at the last minute. Your own conference may (and I believe does) also have it's own guidlines and fine structure for this situation.

While I don't know if there are stipulations preventing GRLC teams from late schedule additions, I would get in contact with the CAA of the home team and see if there is a date that works out. The officials will greatly appreciate having input early in the process.

I believe for GRLC, you can add games, you will just be fined 50 bucks. We added a random Thursday night game (we added it in Jan or Feb) against Iowa State last year. Just had to pony up 50 bucks.
