Campbell to Step Down as President
Dear Colleague,
As per the By-Laws of Backers of BYU Lacrosse, Section 2.7 as incorporated, I tender my resignation as President and Trustee of the foundation effective May 15th 2006. I have enjoyed my tenure as President and we have accomplished much as an organization in the last 3 years, including our funded trips to the Pumpkin Stickout in Syracuse, NY in 2003 and the Genesee Valley Fall Lacrosse Classic in Parkton, MD in 2004. The Backers organization has also successfully funded a full-time head coaches salary, a strength and conditioning coaches salary, TAS for Lacrosse game statistical software and electronic equipment for our recent "BYU Lacrosse Weekly" podcasts which have been hugely popular. The strides we have made as an organization are almost to numerous to count.
I wish to extend my thanks to my fellow Trustees who will continue to serve in their capacities. Brad Haws, who's financial guidance has been invaluable and kept our collective head above water during some strenuous times. Scott Winterton and Scott Wiley who have made the calls and got the commitments over the last 6 months. And most importantly, parents, alumni, friends of the program and our sponsors who have donated so generously to make BYU Men's Lacrosse, unquestionably, the best "virtual varsity" lacrosse program in America.
As we begin our search for a new President, we enjoy tremendous support from the BYU administration and look forward to new milestones for the program in the near future, including a new field facility. We look forward to a successful conclusion of the 2006 season, as we look forward to 2007 and beyond and NCAA Division I status in a not too-distant future by all accounts.
Toward Better Lacrosse,
Tom Campbell
President and Trustee
Backers of BYU Lacrosse
A 501(c)(3) Private Foundation
Whoever steps in for Tom has huge shoes to fill. I really don't know where he found the time to do all he did for BYU, the UHSLL, and Alta HS. We all appreciate what he did, still does, and will do in the future for all of lacrosse. I know we will still hear from him, because he, much like all of us, cannot seem to stay away from the board for too long.
