New Rule

New Rule

Postby Gregg Pathiakis on Sun Feb 13, 2005 9:00 pm

As a new employee with the Boston Cannons, I've been reading through their website and I noticed this:

MLL Rule Changes
· A two-point goal line 15 yards from each goal.
· A 45 second shot clock, which only resets on a change of possession, or if the ball hits the goalie or the goal.
· There is a limit of three long stick defensemen (on the field, per team).
· The elimination of the restraining box, which allows all players to be released on the face-off.

Is that two-point goal line new this year? Seems like a pretty radical rule change regardless of when it took effect.

There has always been a two point goal in MLL. Maybe they moved it in if it is listed as new rule change as I don't know how far out the old one was.

i think that those "rule changes" are not changes from last year, but changes from the college game, as far as I know all rules listed in the post have been in effect since the origin of the league.

I've seen a few games at Nickerson Field (the Cannon's home field) and think that the rules make for a more exciting profressional game.

Season tickets are on sale now for the Boston Cannons! A season ticket package for all 7 home games is being sold now for only $105! Buying a season ticket is the only way to get a spot in the seatback section of the stadium. For more information, or to order season and group tickets, contact Gregg Pathiakis, Ticket Sales Manager, at 617-746-9933.
