Rivalary Weekend- Western vs. Fort vs. UNC

Rivalary Weekend- Western vs. Fort vs. UNC

Postby dunkonu25 on Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:39 am

The next big games in Division B have to be the match ups between Western, Fort and UNC. All 3 teams are fighting for that 2, 3, 4 spot in the playoffs and every game is crucial. I would call this Rivalry Weekend as all 3 teams have a pretty good history and enjoy each others competition. As for my analysis I think Western is probably the hottest team in the division right now after starting 0-4 they have battled back to win 4 out of their last 5 games. Fort Lewis has the best record out of the 3 but that is no indication of how this next weekend will play out. They endured the worst loss to division leader UVSC by 9 as Western only lost to the Wolverines by 5 and UNC taking them to the wire on Saturday and only losing by 3. I also feel Fort hasn’t played any body worth talking about besides UVSC. They do although have home field advantage through out the rest of the regular season. As for UNC I think they have the talent to get the job done the big win against Montana State and holding on with UVSC proves to me that they will give both Western and Fort a good run. The only disadvantage I can see is the travel. UNC has to make the trips to both Durango and Gunnison this weekend.

Since 2001
Fort Lewis has a 3-1 series advantage over UNC
Fort Lewis also carries a 2-1 series advantage over Western
UNC has the upperhand over Western leading the all time series 4-2

Western although beat Fort Lewis last year for the first time in school history and beat UNC in the Playoffs last year for their first playoff win in school history.

If you want my predictions I think all 3 teams will split this weekend going 1-1. I’m not sure who’s going to beat who but it sure will be exciting to find out. Let’s also not forget about Montana State and Mines they are right there in the thick of things which make these games even more important for seeding.

I want other teams predictions on this weekend and or even the teams involved. This seems to be the next big weekend for our league as the season starts to be in the second half?

None of the UNC or Fort guys have any predictions huh. Thats pretty smart, I guess you'll let your game do the talking. Then you all will be on here on Monday talking trash on who beat who. I would do the same thing, but I'm an alumni so i cant let my game talk any more thats why i get on here. good luck to all of the teams. Even though i'm pulling for Western.

You want to hear a prediction? UNC goes 2-0, and I really can't decide about the Fort Lewis vs. Western game. Just a prediction, but good luck to all teams and we'll find out soon enough.

Fort Lewis gets the big win at Home last night as they beat UNC 11-10 in what I'm sure was a hard fought battle. Fort now gets a day of rest before they face off with Western on Sunday. As for UNC they are looking to split this weekend by going into Gunnison today to try to knock off the Mountaineers.

Could the RMLC-B get any tighter? Dunkonu: can you post the rest of this weekend's scores as soon as they happen. These games are just too close to call.

This brings up my standing question: How do the tie breakers work? I believe it first goes to head-to-head, but what if it's a three way tie? How do the point differentials work?

Do you only count point differentials against the tied teams, or do you count point differentials for games against conference playoff qualifying opponents, or something else?

That is a huge question I have Mines played Wyoming twice and both wins seem to count for thier divisional record?

To answer your question about which games count...Mines' first game vs. Wyoming counted, and Mines' second game vs. UNC will count. This is according to the conference matrix that states which teams are home teams for the season. We all get a copy of this matrix at the fall meeting.
