She stated that she was driving in front of the house when this happened, and that she was sure it was 610....however, as the article states, there are no address numbers on the house or anywhere around it. There is a "faded imprint of the numbers is halfway down the front door of the house, a location obscured by the railings on the front porch of the house". Either she was very familiar with the area, or something else is up. Just a thought.

Funny you mention this, because I just read somewhere today that the two girls were walking on the opposite side of the street and not driving in a car. Seems to me like something is up with this story.

If you think most college students are getting charged, I think you're dead wrong. I think you're better suited to covering up a crime than you are about speaking for the drinking habits of college students everywhere.

I guess it depends on where you go to school. The majority of my friends left college with either an open container ticket or a minor in possession. Noise tickets were also very very common. Everybody got hit, not just lacrosse players or greeks. These aren't necessarily big offenses. $20-$200 fines (MIP's can lose their drivers license for a year, but most got dropped to open container charges.)

Of course when it comes to credibility evey hit against you matters.

Jessexy,
I did not mean to single out rap music, just music in general that has that kind of message. Gangsta Rap was the first type that came to mind. My mistake, sorry about that. There is a whole slew of rap songs that have a very positive message, including messages about social tolerance and self-worth. My beef is with those songs (of any genre) that promote the negative types of behavior. We all feel like letting off steam and rebelling sometimes, and it's fine in my book to do so, but don't condone violence toward others in the process.

I hope that clears things up.

Information post - Apparently the "Abrams Report" on MSNBC had defense attorneys on it today speaking about the Duke case - did anyone watch? And if so, can a summary be provided?

I've been told it was quite controversial/confrontational, but no more detail than that

I did not see it.

It is possible the house occupants or the University removed the address numbers from the house after the allegations were made public. I am speculating of course, but a motive for doing this after the incident is to temporarily make it difficult for reporters to find the house.

This might be the one you are looking for Rob -- It is dated today (3/30) at 6:55pm:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12086087/

DURHAM, N.C. - The lawyers for Duke men’s lacrosse players said Thursday that police and an outraged community will owe the team an apology after DNA tests are completed — tests they said will prove no one on the team raped an exotic dancer.

Four attorneys representing nearly all the 46 players forced to give samples protested what they said was a presumption that their clients attacked the dancer or kept quiet about what happened. No one has been charged.

“We believe that the DNA will show that that this not true. We believe that a full and complete and fair investigation will show that it is not true,” lawyer Joe Cheshire said.

This was posted on CBS News just a few minutes ago:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/03/ ... 8675.shtml

The DA states in the article that the 3 members who live in the house willingly made statements to the Durham police claiming that the only individuals at the party were members of the Duke lacrosee team.

Pretty interesting stuff. Someone isn't telling the truth, that much is clear. I know the local DA is under alot of pressure, but I can't believe he is stating the things he is publically until there is more information on hand... Some may have an agenda here.

(CBS/AP) The lawyers for Duke men's lacrosse players said Thursday that police and an outraged community will owe the team an apology after DNA tests are completed – tests they said will prove no one on the team raped an exotic dancer.

Four attorneys representing nearly all the 46 players forced to give samples protested what they said was a presumption that their clients attacked the dancer or kept quiet about what happened. No one has been charged.

"We believe that the DNA will show that it is not true. We believe that a full and complete and fair investigation will show that it is not true," said attorney Joe Cheshire.

Investigators are still collecting evidence, but District Attorney Mike Nifong has said in recent days he already believes a crime occurred. Even if the state crime lab's DNA analysis proves inconclusive or doesn't provide a match for any of the athletes, Nifong has said he'll have other evidence.

Timelines at alleged rape site questioned:

DURHAM -- Two Durham police officers were investigating a reported disturbance at a Duke lacrosse party just 16 minutes before the alleged victim of a gang-rape there showed up at a grocery store more than 2 miles away to call for help.

But police found nothing at the scene, a police spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, the district attorney began downplaying a link between the results of DNA tests that are expected as early as next week and any possible charges. He also said the DNA test results might not be made public when they return from the state forensics lab.

The lacrosse players and their attorneys have said the test results would prove the rape allegations are false. Police, applying for a court order compelling the DNA samples from 46 players, said the tests would "show conclusive evidence as to who the suspect(s) are in the alleged violent attack upon this victim."
