Most improved team in the wcll in 2006

I was just curious, I know its early on in the season, who you all thought was the most improved team so far this yearin the wcll? I know that I have personally been surprised by the USC squad refusing to be a doormat and the re-emergence of Poly.

If they actually finish the entire season I'd say my alma mater -- Pacific -- would rank as most improved

Hopefully injuries won't be as big of a problem as they were last year. At least that's what I heard was part of the problem. Good luck to Pacific.

All biases aside, I think the two most improved teams in the WCLL so far are probably USC and UCLA. UCLA was 3-11 last season, but have started the year 5-1 with good wins over Stanford, Gonzaga, and a competitive game against powerhouse UCSD. Overall comments have been positive this year in regards to their play.

USC was 1-13 in 2004, and 4-7 in 2005 but have started out 3-1 so far with their only loss to a very strong Cal Poly in a competitive game. There are many games left to be played, but under Coach Watkins' second year at the helm and with a strong class of freshman talent, plus experienced returners, I think USC is a team on the rise. They have a young but talented defense that is probably the largest and arguably one of the most physical in the WCLL (starters at 6'7" 225, 6'6" 235, and 6'2" 200). Their offense features a slew of potential scoring threats, depth, and several sharp shooters. Again, still a lot to prove, but based on past season's records and how far we are into the season, I think USC has to be one of the most improved.

I think UCLA's now 6-1 beginning to the season, plus their 16-8 win over Chapman today definitely puts them near the top of this list...
