I am curious if some Dallas Cowboys fans would be rooting for the Seahawks because they don't want the Steelers to be in the lead for the most Super Bowl wins.

I am not great at predicting games, while i tend to think i am. Anyway. I am pulling for the Steelers, Cowher is a testament to teams sticking with a guy and it paying off. While he hasn't won a super bowl, most years his teams have competed. Jerome Bettis may be the most likeable guy in the league right now, I don't know how you don't root for him (assuming that you aren't a Patriot, Colt, Bronco, Bengal, Raven, or Seahawk fan).

As an impartial observer of this game, I am pulling bit time for the Steelers.

The Super Bowl thing doesn't bother me as much as the Steelers having close to 20 Hall of famers (A little under 20 i am sure), and the Cowboys only having 8, with all the great teams they have had.

Not exactly sure, but i think they would be tied for the lead. The Boys i believe are the only team to have one 5 SB.

The Niners have won five SB's? I thought they had only won four.

Niners and Cowboys each have 5. Niners are 5-0 in the big game, Cowboys are 5-3.

I'm taking the Seahawks & the 4 points, but will probably end up cheering for the Steelers as I'm an AFC fan . Big Ben is too young to win a SuperBowl and I think the Cinderella story of road victories comes to a crashing halt today. Hopefully it will be a close game like last year.

There is no way that Pittsburgh "touchdown" broke the endzone line. Should have been reversed.

i think it lies on the line judge. the ref did the right thing in not reversing it because there was not enough evidence to decide one way or the other. the line judge shouldnt have called it if he wasnt sure.

From the replays we were seeing, though, although you don't see the ball cross or not cross the goal line when he hits the ground, when you finally do see him take the ball from under him and put it across the goal line, the fact that he pulled the ball from so far away from the goal line, there is no way it moved that far between the time he hit the ground and the time we see the ball. I think that is conclusive enough. But you're right, the line judge did not have a good enough view before he pulled the ball out from under him to make a decision.

the only thing that is maing me doubt it a little is that while he was in the air, it is possible that the ball just barely crossed and was blocked by his bicep. then he get hit and i dont think it crosses it again till he pushes it up after he is down.

The balls definitely crossed while he was in the air, but he has to be on the ground for the TD to count.

Bill Cowher surely deserves the win after those 14 years. Like the saying goes, "Good things come to those who wait." I like the way the talking heads said at the end of the post game show-- "The Bus has gone into the garage." Jerome Bettis also deserved that win especially in his home town.

Anyone find out what happened to Mike Holmgren, and I found it puzzling that he did not meet Cowher at the end of the game. Did you all see the look on Bill's face when Mike was not around?

Kudos to Pitt

Postby Dan Wishengrad on Sun Feb 05, 2006 11:06 pm

Ok, Pittsburgh won, they held us to only 10 pts so we deserved to lose. It's tough not to be bitter, though, seeing the Seahawks having to face a tough Steelers team AND an officiating crew that sure seemed to call it only "one way". From the early touchdown called back for a debatable offensive interference, to 3-4 first downs called back for holding (the one where Seattle would have been first and goal inside the two was completely made-up). They say you could call holding on every play in pro football, but apparently not when Pittsnurgh has the ball. But on every key converted third down for the Seahawks, well sure-as-shooting there came the holding call. Throw in some non-calls -- like the delay of game where the Ref claimed Roethlisberger called timeout before the play clock expired, which he clearly did not. And, my personal favorite among the myriad of terrible officiating decisions -- the "illegal block" called on Hasselbeck for making the tackle after throwing an interception.

Really difficult to overcome a very good opponent and an officiating crew that was determined to influence the outcome of the game. And we didn't. Kudos to the Steelers and their fans.

I can't buy that. Officiating was not the reason why Seattle lost. There were some bad calls, but none that affected the outcome of the game. The called back touchdown was not a bad call. He clearly pushed off to gain separation. Unfortunately it happened right in front of an official. Receivers get away with that a lot, but not this time.

The reason they lost was because of crucial mistakes and clock mismangement, not the officiating.
