I feel bad for the NCAA, there is really no way they can win out in this case. If you let the people pay for the tickets, it's a slippery slope toward boaster abuse, if you don't let the people pay, you look insensitive to family members and student athletes.

they could just allow it for military serving overseas. I would be ok with boosters paying for a kid's mom or dad to come back and see them perform. Their the ones who are serving our nation and protecting us, why not reward them for their service?

i would like to see the exact rule, because it says they cant travel for free. they never said anything about discounted travel. so if he only had to pay $5 would that still be in accordance of rules?

I think the bottom line is that family members cannot accept money from the booster club, regardless of what the money would be used for.

As for letting military service members travel, the man in question here is not a military worker, rather a subcontractor. Here is where the slippery slope begins. If you let military service members, then why not people who work with the military? Then why not anyone who's overseas working for the government? Then why not anyone working for the military in the United States? Then why not someone who works for UNICEF in Africa? It would go on and on, and I'm assuming that's why the NCAA wouldn't allow it.

Like I said before, they really can't win in this situation, which is sad because some good could come out of changing the rule slightly.
