Should the all-star team reflect the all-conference roster or be more balanced?

not so much about the allstar game, but moreso the laxtravaganza. what will the order of games played be? i want to go to some grad parties and the laxtravaganza is perfectly scheduled to block out all possibilities of that if the games are played a certain way. im assuming that it will be 3rd place game, womens allstar game, mens allstar game and championship game at the end, right?

Laxtravaganza schedule is still in flux. Evidentally the kids/coaches and planning committee didn't realize that the 11th is an ACT test date. The upshot is that the 3rd place HS game may end up later in the day.

I'll post here when finalized.

The original schedule had the HS 3rd place game at noon, but that was going to conflict with the ACT so the organizers switched the College All Star game and the HS 3rd place game. I think they're trying to maintain some kind of an alternating by gender scheme.

The second reason for alternating games is that the women's games are generally shorter than men's games which give the high school playoff games a bit more time to warm up (hopefully).

I hope to see a good turnout on Saturday!

the game

Postby gopherlax27 on Sat Jun 11, 2005 5:33 pm

I would like to thank everyone who showed up and made this game a fun experience. For those who chose not to show up and didnt even bother sending me a pm so that replacements could be found, I was very dissapointed with you. Although its hard to get a hold of everyone, I know that there were a lot of people who either didnt show up, or send me a post like a day or two prior to the game, who are on this site daily and who were aware of this game. In any case, thanks to the refs, the organizers and to those playing for making this a fun event.

Perhaps for next year you should make a rule that people selected only get to participate if they respond that they will be there; failure to reply means an alternate will be selected.

And, of course, if someone says they'll be there and they aren't, well, they should be ineligible for the all-star game the next year. That won't help much with seniors, but at least it sends a message.

I agree that something has to be done because otherwise there is no reason to have one if we cant get the best players out on the field.

I got a call from Jon Onjoco like monday asking if he was playing som sort of all-star game. He heard through a friend that he was on it- and according to him he wasnt ever contacted. So being a good president i called the other SJU guys that made the team. Most were unaware they were on it, and one knew he was on it but thought it was at a diffrent time. Basically the way i saw it there was a lack of communication to the players playing- if your coach wasnt named graff or larson. Maybe next year think about calling the players and sending emails and making the kids send an RSVP or somthing. You cant just assume a kid is going to show up due to busy schedules with work, dan gencks wedding, and other things that may be deemed more important.
