John and Bill,

This sounds like two emotionally invested people reacting to a perceived slight (which is something many of us are obviously capable of doing).

I think it carries more weight if someone other than a player's coach or teammate were to suggest he was overlooked.

I'd like to know how many of the other candidates you saw play. Perhaps some of them are his equal or even better. Voting is very difficult without being able to see the players and their competition.

I'll grant you that without seeing them play it is difficult to judge. So what do we base it on?Stats? - Cory is near or at the top in stats. Awards in conference? Cory was first team all SELC and the SLEC Div B Offensive Player of the year. SO what is it based on?

corey is a good player...but i think he is where he should be on the AA list....he has a weak left hand, and scored most of his goals on teams with losing records....im not trying to take anything away from him, but you make him out to be some amazing d1 star who wanted to play club....i could see 3rd team at best, hope to match up on him again next year

unfortunately, that does not look like it will happen...unless you move to DIII

Come on Danny, you are like so 8 posts behind......yeah, I need help but he sort of responded to my question earlier with:

Cory has not made any decisions on where he wants to play next year and that includes coming back to Liberty. I know both Towson and UMBC have been interested and he is looking hard at either Messiah College or Gordon College in NCAA Div. 3. It is his decision. Both Messiah and Gordon are Christian Schools but it is something he will have to look at and decide what is in his best interest. I wish him well.

low D3 is a good place for corey....but he should be thankful he got an AA honor you dont hear other players crying over the fact they made it....they are glad they made it...there is always someone better than you...thats the way life goes...and fyi he was held to 2 against ASU.....1 was man up.....and i dont remember when the 2nd was, if there was a 2nd goal....

I said my peace on this in my last post. For the record Cory scored 3 of Liberty's 9 Goals against App. state. But that is history and who really cares. Does this prove that App. State has this great Defense?

I have not spoken to Cory for about a week but I'm sure he is thankful. Cory is the kind of Player that could care less about some title. He is a Team Player and as a Christian plays to honor God.

I'm just disappointed and that is my opinion and Bill shares the same feelings. If a player can be the top Offensive Player in the SELC and not make the first three teams of the AA list then is the SELC recognized as a Conference with less talent? I don't think so since SELC Teams played well in Blane this year.

It happened in the PNCLL too.

T. Hall from Montana averaged 4.52 ppg for the season, scored 6g1a in the PNCLL championship game, travelled to Minnesota and put in another 6 (off the top of my head) against the Home team, and was the PNCLL Offensive Player of the Year. And we had 6 teams finish in the top 25, and no 1st or 2nd team players. I realize 4 of us finished at the very bottom of the poll, but 2 of us played Montana to a 3g game and 4g game, and we split with PLU. They had a tough schedule, and should be very proud. They deserved to finish as highly as they did, they, like UVSC, lost to 1 B team all season, and it was the Champions. I'm sure most of the PNCLL B thinks Hall should atleast be considered for 2nd team. I was even more impressed with their longpole Frey, but maybe I was the only one. I don't see too many Dpoles that can check and recover as quickly as he can.

That was just a breif PNCLL arguement, I don't know about the RMLC, WCLL, GRLC or anyone else. I'm sure there is a ton of talent everywhere, we just don't here about it because their teams aren't as complete. I'm not trying to make a case against Cory or for anyone else. I just bring it up to let you know that not everyone is going to be pleased, you're not the only one. We can make lots of arguements for lots of different players, but the end result is still these guys are incredible players, and we all appreciate what they do, regardless or recognition.

Again, congrats to all the AA's. If anyone from this list wants to transfer to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, or attend the university the movie Pre-Fontaine was filmed at, I'll make a little bit of room on the roster.

More on Townsend Hall from Montana. . .I know he is only a freshman, so he will certainly get more recognition over the next 3 years. . .but in the PNCLL championship game, with his team down by 2 goals in the 4th quarter (against us). . .he took over the game and scored 4 goals in the fourth (finished with 6g1a) and led Montana to the PNCLL title over PLU.

He then went to nationals against a very good St. John's team and added another 6 goals, 1assist in a 13-8 victory. Against USD in the semis he was held to only 2 goals (of Montana's 3). . .but if I'm not mistaken UVSC is the only B team all year that scored more than 5 against the USD defense.

I hope the B teams increase their travel and OOC games next year so the voters will have a little bit easier time picking AAs. It's a brutal job, but the voters definitely have their hands full. Maybe in the future each league could send in some sort of highlight reel on each AA nominee so the voters would have an opportunity to see each player, even if only 2-4 minutes of highlights for each guy. . .just a thought.

I don't want to continue this argument about Corey Noseworthy because I think you're being a little unrealistic Mr. Westfall, but I would like to bring it up to point out the fact that Corey did not score many goals on us, not due to the fact that we double teamed him, but we have some very strong defenders as the polls show, and one in particular contained Corey the entire game. My point is not that Corey is not a talented player, but there are so many talented players in the league, that complaining that he is not the most talented instead of praising some of the most talented is disrespectful of the rest of the players,

Congrats to everyone, for not just the list, but for the year as a whole. I never thought I would enjoy club lacrosse so much. Good luck to all teams in the coming years

I find it very interesting that the tournament MVP--Marshall Schulz--didn't even make honorable mention for the AA teams. Pity. He is a quality player.

That suprised me too. I was also suprised that Steve Merrill of USD didn't make it either. He was HM A-A his freshman season as a LSM, and that was before they differentiated between Div. A and B A-A lists. He moved to close defense this year I believe. He's got one more year to bring the repeat. Unfortunately T-Bag (Thomas Ladt) will graduate, leaving Marshall Schulz to carry the offensive load next year... unless the incoming freshman A-A middie from Brother Rice is as money as we hope!

Congrats to all recipients it was a great year. I would just like to give a shout out to Hardings goalie Jonathon Johnson I'm assuming he didnt get nominated for all american team (somehow???) but having made GRLC 1st team and being selected as all tournament goalie at nationals....what else makes sense??? anyhow only 9mo. til spring '06 left think i'm gonna go hit the wall.

I lined up against Steve Merrill (#8) of USD every face off and he is very impressive. HE has a solid stick and is an excellent defender. I am very surprised he didn't get AA. San Diego is a hell of a team. They are all fast as hell!
