People are gonna jump me for this one but...

Our guy Cory holds back against the lesser competative teams. I will reference our last game. He didn't actually shoot at the goal until the 2nd half and was feeding other teammates all game. I've tried to encourage him to shoot more but I can honestly say that he is unselfish. He has cranked it up early in the season, but I think he has settled down into a leadership role rather than the "superstar". Our offense is geared toward multiple looks and not just giving the ball to the superstar. Last week Isaac Gilwit had 7 goals, Cory 3. That's unselfish.

Me thinks thou doth protest too much...

Lindenwood Freshman Justin Combs reached 100 points for the season this afternoon vs. Kansas before being replaced in the second quater. Combs did this playing in only 14 games. The undefeated lions have one more regular season game remaining on Wednesday night when they travel to Washington University. LU is currently enjoying a 20-game home winning streak.

the real question here is IF/WHEN LU makes it to blaine, will this combs kid produce to the equivalent that he currently has? my money is on no becuase if LU does go, they will be the 15th seed and face the #1 either CSU/Noma..... then we will see if the true player

I agree that Combs most likely will not produce the same numbers (points per game) but for very specific reasons. Very rarely do big time players have to opportunity to up their production in post season play because of the level of competition as well as the schemes opponents run to cue in on these guys. What I would look for if LU has some success in the post season is the "supporting cast" to step up and put up numbers above what most have been used to this season.

The best example I can think of is Mike Powell in the last two Final Fours.

you must be kidding me right? what games were you watching. mp was doubleteamed against navy the whole game or locked off. he had the game winning goal plus 4 assists. if that is an example of someone being dominated, i wish i could have had the final fours he had. sure teams will adjust schemes in the post season, but come on this guy isnt an inigma. people have been or should have been adjusting schemes the whole stinking season. excuses excuses people, put him on a csu, sonoma, or ucsb team and see how the kid stacks up.

First of all... there is zero comparison between Mike Powelll and Justin Combs (no offense to Justin, but completely different leagues) ...

Despite that I do offer my congratulations to Justin. 100 points is a great accomplishment and he should be recognized for that. However I would like to see what he can do in Blaine, assuming LU makes it to the national tourney. He will be making his debut in more of a "national recognition" with much more difficult defenses than he is used to that are focused on shutting him down. I know that we (BC) were missing (limited playing time) our leading scorer last year in nationals due to illness and had a handful of players step up, despite a tough first round loss to Oregon. I am anxious to see how Lindenwood performs in Blaine.

By no means am i making a stab or questioning the ability of Justin with this post. I have yet to see him play in person but can only congratulate him through this board concerning his performance thus far this season. I look forward to seeing him play in person at nationals.

I wish both him and LU the best of luck in their league's postseason and the national tournament.

So I did some research and while Mikey Powell didn't get owned in his final three Final Four games, he didn't have his normal production. Over his career he averaged 4.58 points per game, he dipped a little to 3.67 in his final three. What I should have said was that he got worked in 2003 against Hopkins where the Blue Jays limited him to a mere two assists. I stand corrected.

Cory Noseworthy from Liberty in 9 games. I gotta ping our people to get the game reports in!

49 goals and 32 assists for 81 points

That's 5.44 GPG and 3.55 APG.

Congrats to Combs and Lindenwood, those are great numbers! Congrats also to Noseworthy and Liberty U., you guys have had a lot to overcome this season. To put up numbers like that and even still be playing says a lot about the character and determination of your team.
