I am not familiar with DII, so I can only speak for DI. The asterisk indicates game that I think will be close.

#1 CSU v #16 Purdue -- CSU
#2 Colorado v #15 Texas -- CU*
#3 ASU v #14 Georgia -- ASU
#4 BYU v #13 GCU -- BYU*
#5 Chapman v #12 Oregon -- Chapman*
#6 UCSB v #11 Oregon State -- UCSB*
#7 Stanford v #10 Mich State -- Stanford
#8 BC v #9 Sonoma -- Sonoma*

I think the selection committee did a very good job this year. The only game I would have avoided is the Chapman vs Oregon game; I wouldn't even say that Oregon is seeded incorrectly (last year they definitely deserved a better seed), I just would have avoided pitting those two teams against each other for the 2nd year in a row. My guess is Chapman would rather play Oregon State or Michigan State or even BC, but they get the Ducks yet again.

Having said that, I don't see any upsets in the 1st round, except for #9 Sonoma over #8 BC, which isn't much of an upset.

It's the 2nd round where things will get interesting.

As talented as Stanford's key players are, I don't see how they get past Colorado. Macnee gets a lot of the attention, but that offense is as talented as any in the MCLA.

BYU is like kryptonite to Chapman, but I'm going to bet on the Panthers to finally break that curse this year. BYU's offense is less dynamic than in year's past, and I can't see them putting together the 5 or 6 goal run that they've usually needed to take down Chapman.

Sonoma is well rounded and their goalie is really solid, but I'm afraid they're not going to get past CSU. Both WCLL teams fight hard, but bow out in the 2nd round.

The best 2nd round game will be ASU vs UCSB. It's tough to beat a talented, well-coached team twice in a row. I'm going with the Gauchos in an upset, behind a solid defensive game plan from Coaches Allan and Miller.

That gives me semi-finals of CSU vs Chapman and UCSB vs Colorado. All old school MCLA programs I'm afraid, I don't see any new blood cracking the Final Four.

As much as I'd like to predict the California teams take the title, I think both Colorado and Colorado State make it to the final stage. But in an upset, I'm going with the Buffs to take their first ever MCLA title. It's really difficult to beat the same team 3 times in the same year, and Colorado has all the pieces necessary to win big games - goaltending, face-offs, and shooters that can break down a defense.

I'm looking forward to the games. It's going to be weird watching from the "sidelines".

I also have my eyes on the ASU/UCSB rematch. It will be their third meeting if it happens. I remember my senior year, UCSD and Nick Dean had our number. They beat us twice before we faced them in the first round. We were finally able to take them down. Third time is the charm.

Let's remember that the only close first round game last year was close, #1 Cal Poly v #16 Duluth (and #8/9, but that should be close). But Cal Poly liked close games last year and Duluth was better than their ranking.

Pancho, you do know PBA has a terrible defense. Don't see them beating Westminster.

While I don't follow D2 as diligently as I probably should, I do know that PBA is not known for their defense. With that said, they have a propensity to score a lot of goals even in losses (21-17 loss to Liberty comes to mind). I think they have a legit shot on day 2 to have their offense put up some points against a potentially slightly fatigued Westminster team.

In reality, I think logic says Westy wins this game, but I am going out on a limb and taking a shot that PBA wins, 18-17 in OT.

I applaud a man that stands by his convictions. However, they held undisputed #1 St. Thomas to 11 goals. In addition, the other #1 Colorado State to 14, along with 13 apiece for Colorado and BYU assuming those D1 teams played to win and didn't hold back. They held their D2 opponents to about a 5 goal average so even allowing for PBA's high powered offense I don't seem them giving up more than 10. Westminster 14-10.

I was very impressed with Liberty's showing today. I thought they were going to pull it off. Classy move on the kid's part to check in on the UST defeseman he hurt with a shot. They represented the SELC well. If they don't make the jump up to D1 next year, I think they'll be a tough out again next season.

#1-4 in the final four, two one goal games. Sounds like a great D2 Final Four.

And now CSU vs CU for the championships. Is this the 2nd or 3rd time this has happened?
