Shoulder Pad Liners

Postby Shaw on Mon May 26, 2008 10:54 pm

So what's the word on shoulder pad liners, i.e. riding up, fit, durability.

Comparing between the STX Shogun Liner, the Brine Exodus II, the Gait Chaos Liner, the Brine LoPro, and the Adidas Excel Liner.

You also forgot the Maverick Defense Liner.

I am trying to decide between the maverick and exodus pads right now and my players are telling me that the exodus is much better.

Brine, STX & others used to have these if you can find one. The first one I got was back in middle school, and it was old & ratty then, but took another 7 or 8 years before it finally fell apart. I'm on my 2nd one, which is about 5 years old (got it at Bacharach before they bit the dust) and it still looks brand new.

If you're looking for minimal protection & really light weight, you can't go wrong. Also, the vinyl soaks up less sweat & odor than fabric-covered ones.

Well I guess the big thing is, I'm 6'5'' so I need something that may actually cover most of my chest.

Liners are definitely small and for minimal protection. I'm about 6'3", 185. They cover the tops of my shoulders and come down to about 2" below the bottom of my armpits across my chest & back.

If you're looking for fuller coverage, you're probably going to have to go for a more traditional pad than a liner.

Not so much fuller coverage as I'm thinking if they only went to my pits then they would ride up a bunch.
