Sonny you could add onto the end that it doesn't hurt for a coach to know the rules as well as the officials, and being one could only help your case.

Another excellent point.

All the youth and H.S. players I know that have gone through the officials training, have said that it has helped them become better players on the field.

I'm sure the same thing would apply for coaches. Once you start learning the rules & officials mechanics, you pick up alot about the game that you didn't realize.

I know it is not the nearly the same circumstances as the Duke situation, but what would be the chances of the UMLL seniors being granted an extra year of eligibility, due to the UMLL tournament being canceled? Not that it is the solution or anything but I just wanted to know what the logistics of something like that hapenning or even ever being considered. Being that I was a UMLL senior I was devastated not to have a UMLL tournament this past year, and I know I am not the only one.

Ben,

You did get to play all of your regular season. You guys made a significant trip to Florida, which is a big step forward for your program.

I don't see the Duke case as being relevant to any appeal you might make.

I hope you're proud that you left the program in better condition than when you found it. That's what has impresed me the most.

I was just curious, I am not going to make any sort of appeal. Just waned to see what people thought on the matter. The reason that I referenced Duke is because their seniors were granted another year of eligibility due to their season being canceled half way through, just wanted to see what the chances would be for us to get another year. I am content in my lacrosse career in the UMLL and had a great 3.9 years in the league. I just feel disappointed that my senior year happened to be the year that the UMLL tournament was canceled. And in a year where, in my opinion, was the best chance for my team to make a push towards the UMLL championship.

If it makes you feel better I did not get to play in the UMLL tournament my senior year either due to weather. They had the tournament that year ('03, I am not that old yet :) ) but due to an old by-law which has since been changed we were placed on probation for missing a game earlier in the year because we could not travel. To this day it still sucks that I did not get to play in that one, but life goes on.

..and no shame in asking. What if the EB had said yes?? :)

Panch,

Sounds like you might have more of a case then I would for an extra year of eligibility. I would back your appeal all the way. Go for it! :D
