So true. I have seen the Skins piss away picks for unproven, over the hill or overrated vets since Danny Boy bought the team. They were finally gonna do it right, bring in a young coach, young talent, build through the draft. But, it seems that Lil Dan just couldn't help but try to bring in another locker room wreckin ego (Chad Johnson)... guess misery loves company.

I think Palmer is one of the most underrated QBs in the show. He gets no help on defense at all and is forced to try and out score teams.

What ever happened to Marvin Lewis the Defensive Guru?

It's been an embarrassing 16 years as a Skins fan. I have always hated Snyder trading picks away... I don't think you can go that way in the NFL. I wouldn't have lost any sleep over the acquisition of Johnson, but I agree that there are some deeper needs on the squad (OL, DL, CB, SS, etc, etc).

Flacco is good, but you have to wonder. He transfer's from Pitt because he can't compete with Tyler Palko (age difference aside). I like the guy and think he made the right move, but it's a shallow year at that position among others.

So, where is Matt Ryan going to end up?

I too am completely fed up with Snyder... but what can ya do.

I think Marvin is a good D coordinator, but maybe not cut out for Head Coach? Also begs the question, was it really his coaching or was Ray Lew and the Boys in B-more making him look like a genius a la the 98 Vikes and Billick, who, like Marvin Lewis was supposed to be a genius of his craft and ended up never getting an offense to do anything... The epidemy of the phrase 'defense wins championships'

a bit off topic, but food for thought

Blasphemy! How could you look John Elway in the eyes?!?!

It very well could be a rough year for the Broncos again. I don't think it's going to change until Mike Shanahan is no longer in charge of Player Personnel. He has proven to be a great Coach, but he needs to step back and delegate some responsibility so he can focus on coaching.

Loses Ted Sundquist hurts. Losing Jason Elam hurts worse. Without Elam we are at BEST a 5-11 team last year. 3rd D Coordinator is 3 years is a little annoying, especially when the new one is just as unproven as the last two. Lepis retiring hurts the team, and my heart. It sucks seeing the guys from the 96-98 run leaving. It also leave a huge hole on the line.

Good moves by the Broncos this off-season, bringing in Boss Bailey and Niko Koutouvides at linebacker and cutting Ian Gold. Our run defense was miserable last year and most of it was because of holes that were not filled by linebackers. Bringing in the two new guys get a little bit more talent then we had, and it also allows DJ Williams to go back to his natural spot at WSLB.

Sammie Parker (Kansas City) and Darrell Jackson (from the Seahawks) should be able to help make a solid group of receivers with Stokley and Marshall (if he can avoid letting his entertainment center knock him out for 3 months)

I think in the draft they really need to get a good OL and maybe another DT. I think Jarvis Moss and Elvis Dumarville a did a decent job last year on the ends (until Moss got hurt). Actually Dumerville played GREAT, 12.5 sacks and constantly plugging holes. If you surround them with the right cast I think good things will happen with the D line.

In the late rounds we also need to think of picking up a prospect for safety.

In short, don't give up on the Broncos. If we can put up with an 11 win season for the Nuggs, we can stick though a few crappy years with the Donkeys.

C'mon...Sundquist didn't do anything and didn't have any authority. I agree they need a personnel guy, but until Bowlen gives that guy some power, it won't matter who they bring in. Shanny is still a decent game-day coach, but his personnel skills are BRUTAL. Broncos are lucky to go 8-8 this year.

He may not have had much say in who went where, but according to the other GM's in the league he was great to work with, and big in getting the deals done.

The biggest problem for the Broncos is personnel. Until we get Shanny out of that role, we are going to keep having mediocre seasons.

And yes, that is Tony Banks in the second book cover. Brian Billick literally wrote the book on the West Coast offense. How did that work out for him in Baltimore, hon?

Looks like the Cowboys have pulled off the trade for Pacman. If the rumors are true, i am hoping for the rangers to pull of the trade for Anquan Boldin or Roy Williams (WR) for their #22 pick, and then take Felix Jones at 28.

It'll be interesting to see where Boldin ends up. ESPN thinks he's moving soon, but they also think the Braves are going to win the pennant.

Don't count out the Braves.

I am concerned about Boldin and Williams, because both of them cannot stay healthy.

Not counting them out by any means. Escobar, by the way, is something special.

As a bears fan, i think we are doomed this season, and for the next 5. Our defense is too old to stop anyone, and with all the contract disputes its gotta be a terrible headache for Angelo. Not that he didn't put himself in this position, but seriously,

We currently have no receivers, a qb who can't throw to his own team, and a man with the mentality of a 5 yr old at rb.

We are most certainly screwed. I would not be surprised if we finished last in the division this year, even behind the lions.
