Preseason Player of the Year

St. Thomas has put a choke-hold on the MCLA's second division, earning four of the last five national titles. Senior midfielder Will Hersman is back to form after recovering from Lyme disease throughout last spring, but is he your choice for the best player in the league for 2014?

David Hall, Soph., Attack – Grove City
As a rookie, the 6-foot, 215-pound Hall (56g, 12a) was unstoppable at times. He torched Liberty for five goals and two assists in the quarterfinals, averaging five points per game at nationals.
Jacob Helmer, Sr., Attack – St. John's
Defense has been the name of the game at St. John's, put with the powerful Helmer (37g, 23a) returning up front this spring, the offense might carry the Johnnies as a young backline matures.
Will Hersman, Sr., Midfield – St. Thomas
An athletic middie who has played a pivotal role in the St. Thomas dynasty, Hersman (23g, 4a) will be the anchor of the Tommies' talented midfield unit. Unlike '13, Hersman should be healthy from the start.
Danny Kransberger, Sr., Goalie – Grand Valley State
The Lakers had early season issues in '13, but Kransberger (58.9 sv%) has been a constant since he arrived at GVSU. The two-time first team All-American should once again be the team's foundation.
Destin Seguin, Sr., Attack – Concordia (Calif.)
Seguin has averaged over 80 points in his first three seasons (77 last spring) and has been part of the Eagles rise to prominence. He could flirt with the century mark if Concordia heads to nationals again.
