GRLC Division 2 Academic Recognition

GRLC Division 2 Academic Recognition

Postby culax on Thu Apr 24, 2008 3:13 pm

I am inviting all D2 players to submit certified copies of their school transcript for consideration for academic recognition. Our conference honors all students with a GPA of 3.2 or higher with GRLC all-academic recognition.

A player's GPA is determined as of the last school term completed. For schools on the semester system, this means your GPA as of the end of the fall 2007 semester. All transcripts must be certified. Transcripts can either be mailed to Commissioner Mosher or handed to me at the GRLC playoffs.

Any player who has a GPA of 3.2 or higher, and also makes first or second team all-conference, is eligible for academic all-america recognition by the MCLA. The same conditions apply: GPA is based upon last completed term and transcript must be certified by school registrar.

Coaches, please do not delay in requesting transcripts for any player that might be eligible for this prestigious recognition.

What about for people in 1AA? Who can we send the transcripts to?

Div 1A & 1AA should have your coach send transcripts to Brian Mosher.

This is the statistician in me, but I have a question about Academic All-Conference and Academic AA. Is the criteria a 3.2 or a 3.20?

The difference being that a 3.16 is absolutely a 3.2. It is not close to or almost a 3.2, but it is technically speaking exactly a 3.2.

3.2 is the threshold. No rounding to get there. We're not dealing with significant digits here.

That is what I always assumed, the threshhold would then be 3.20.

3.16 is exactly 3.2. Mathematically speaking.

I don't even know what a significant digit is, and its making my head hurt. Thank god for the study of literature.
