Emory already beat Elon...so yeah.

seeding aside, who has a better chance of reaching the second round, Coastal or TWC?

And I think that Coastal has a better shot at beating Elon than TWC does at beating UNCC. UNCC and Elon are solid teams...but the gap between UNCC and TWC is too big.

enough said, thanks for the clarification. i too think coastal does have a good shot at elon, they have seemed solid this season, and have only heard good things.

also elon hasnt played a game since march 15. i have heard they played scrimmages outside selc, but i also heard it was a tourny clinic with three games in one day the weekend after.

its gonna be hard going into a game after not playing one in a while. coastal has a great shot.

i wont comment on twc and uncc.

Charlotte had two hiccups in the middle of the season, and outside of that have played great.

TWC has played quality teams outside the MCLA, so they are used to seeing the talent. They seem to play way better at home, though, so the neutral field could definitely be a factor

I've had some friends/old teammates asking this as well.

Word I got is that Charlotte won 14-6, which brings up the rematch of last years Championship game. This game is going to be great. Good luck to both teams and hopefully the good guys can win this time.

I believe Elon won something like 13 - 6 over Coastal Carolina.

UNCC vs. TWC

Postby cecilc on Fri Apr 18, 2008 10:07 pm

UNCC had a sluggish 1st half, but came out in the 2nd half and dominated Tennessee Wesleyan ..... with the usual suspects (Metcalfe and Ganzert) providing some of the excitement.

Here are some shots from that game .... hit the F5 key if you see a red X .....

Ok...wow. So Elon beats Coastal something like 13-7. Chippy game, lots of flags, hits, slashes, blah blah blah.

CHECK THIS OUT:

Elon is up 13-6 or something like that...with 3 minutes left in the game. So a CC player lines up and blatantly drills an Elon player in the back/neck/head on a buddy pass. Elon player goes down...fights break out. Not cool...BUT...there's two 3-minute non-releasable penalties per Elon and CC. Making it 1on1 at the midfield....however...one of the Elon players ran off the bench during the fight and got into it...so tack on another 3 minute non-releasable against Elon. Meaning....it is 4on3 in favor of CC...non-releasable...FOR THE REST OF THE GAME. Elon is required to stay on their halves of the field and no one can cross over. So there's only 1 midfielder...and he's on CC. Apparently NO ONE ON THE FREAKING FIELD REALIZED THIS and CC basically ceded the game. Everyone appeared to be so hung up on the brawls and fights that were over...that nobody knew that CC could have simply run 30 4-3 fast break drills over and over and over. Instead...a CC dodged through all 3 Elon poles and scored.

Ok, faceoff time. The Elon player cannot step over the line...so he basically just drops back on defense...and nobody on Coastal...beit a player, coach, anyone realized that there were given the game on a silver platter and could have scored a goal for every 5-7 seconds that were in the game. CC didn't seem to notice this, at all.

I am still shocked.

Coastal v. Elon

Postby WallyLaxFan on Fri Apr 18, 2008 11:06 pm

Coastal Carolina needs to learn to play lacrosse They spent the entire Elon game complaining about the officials calls, as if the officials were pulling for Elon. After an even first half, Elon pulled away in the third. Because of their lack of knowledge on the rules, Coastal decided to take out their anger at the officials out on Elon players. Toward the end of the game, a coastal player aparently said to an Elon player "you want to see a real hit?" Then proceeded to drill an Elon player in the back of the head. An Elon player retaliated and all hell broke loose. A total of five ejections were handed out, and one Elon player was suspended for the semifinals. Following the game, the Coastal players continued to take out their frustrations on the Elon fans, making obscene comments for no reason. I know for sure that I am not the first one to complain about Coastal's sportsmanship and playing style. I think the league and school should take serious action toawrd both the coaching staff and the players, because nor the opposing team nor officials deserves that kind of abuse. Credit the officials for making the right calls all night long. I apoligize to a certain amount of the Coastal players who were very nice, and showed the sportsmanship expected in this level of sports. Hopefully, the rest of the weekend will produce "cleaner" lacrosse.

I was at the Elon-CC game and nothing needs to be added but I will say the refs tried their best to keep control of the game. They let them play until both started throwing bad checks. Elon stopped and CC continued. The refs called both ways in my opinion (although some were ticky tack, but called on both teams) and gave out many warnings before flags were thrown. After the game I asked a ref about the 3 Elon players and their ablity to play in tomorrow’s game. I was told it was up to the head of referees. Good luck to Elon in tomorrow’s game either way.
