To: the rev 34: see you in Dallas. I'll be there to see the Skyhawks (is there really any such bird) work!

I know it's just going to sound biased but I do think that Ft.Lewis is a legitimate contender. I also love the atmosphere of the team - in big games it always seems like they're the underdog. Maybe it's because it's their big games are always against UVSC or Westminster, or maybe it's because they are such a small school, with a small(er) roster, and operating on an overall smaller budget. But they're prepared to go to Dallas, have shown us that before and are chomping at the bit to get out there again.

And damnit if their performance this weekend didn't reflect that!

In summary.... yes they did make quite a statement and I for one hope they are rewarded with an at-large bid - I think they have proven that they can run with the big boys in Division II.

Also, i'd like to say....

As far as their strength of schedule and everyone who keeps talking about that goes.... ever been to Durango? Home games in February or March are out of the question, or very rare/lucky - and they are AT LEAST 5-6 hours from any other major city. Deep in the mountains, we're talking snow-packed mountain passes that can't even take guard rails cause they're already too narrow, or other routes that include a mountain pass that is 10,300 feet high and gets 465 Natural Inches "The Most Snow in Colorado". Refs fly in from Utah or New Mexico to work their games and their overall travel costs (both the refs and the team's in general) are ridiculous - probably somewhere close to what a BYU or CSU spends, and the Fort doesn't fly anywhere or take big trips. The cost they are already incurring gives them a California trip or a couple smaller trips. To play a team in Michigan or Ohio would cost more than it would to go to Dallas for an entire week.

They're good, with a dedicated coaching staff that has gotten them this far - cut them some slack.

Thanks! ;-)
