alright it's about that time and I'm bored at work. Anyone wanta throw out a prediction as to how this year will end up? I know it's early but a some early predictions never hurt anyone.

My guess, and lets be honest I'm gonna be optimistic about my teams chances....hahaha, so I'm just throwing that out there.

Division 1:
1)UMD
2)MSU-mankato
3)UofM
4)St. Olaf
5)Iowa State
6)St. Cloud
7)Marquette
8)Stevens Point

Feel free to post your Division 2 predictions as well, I am not as educated on Division 2 as I should be so I'll let the experts give their opinions.

Div 2

1. SJU- only lost 2 starters (willman and ivory), ivory was out for more then 1/2 the season last year and did not travel to texas. Hopefully they will be able to stop being the buffalo bills of club lacrosse and win in the Championship game. Mark Hellenack=Marv Levy??? Word on the street is they also got some sick new helmets that will obviously help their play.

2. St. Thomas- lost madden, but the michealson-king duo will be sick. I hear Costello will be joining them after a stint out east at UMBC where he played in the fall. I dont think their all new- all purple brine helmets they got will be able to propel them past SJU though. :)

3. Carelton- has added some exceptional players, someone they call the "one". Singer will be back after ACL tear.

4. UWEC- Senior leadership and new coach will bring them to the next level.

5. Bethel- Solid athletes, dont know of any major additions

6. NDSU- Program keeps getting better, they have become serious about winning again

7. Augsburg- having former d1 player jay (Vermont) at defense will be very nice, but will feel the growing pains

8. ND- under the helm of first year coach paul bachand, they will be much improved

9. Moorhead- Have not head much from them lately, low numbers affected their squad last year maybe they have changed it around and picked up some depth.

From what I saw this fall.

NDSU - Great freshman class. Lots of speed. They picked up a pole (Totino I think?) that makes your jaw drop, great stick and very athletic. They continue to excel under coach Chris Kamella's direction. If they can sustain numbers they should impress this year.

Moorhead - Zach Bosch takes over as coach but they looked about the same as last year. Not sure about incoming freshman

UND - My honest impression was lots of individual efforts but nothing cohesisve on the field. They have lots of talent and a large squad but struggle to put together a full game. It felt like the players onfield superceded what the coach was trying to accomplish (individuals??). I am a little biased of course (They didn't like my officiating and I don't like them much either)

From what I hear, this should be a great year for the UMLL. It sounds like it's going to be very competitive, with plenty of talent across the board returning from last year and lots of freshman talent added to the rosters.

Division 1:
1) UMD - Lost 4 seniors, but 3 were All-Americans. Still return plenty of talented, competitive players. Will also be playing an extremely tough schedule this year, including Michigan, BC, CSU, Arizona, etc.
3) UofM - Don't want to divulge too much information about my squad, but...We return all of our starting defensmen and attackmen, with quite a few additions across the board. Big question is if we can overcome our youth this year to play like a veteran team.
3) Marquette - Very impressive run last year, and were better than the final standings showed (lost a couple close games from what I can remember). Don't know what kind of talent they lost, but I nonetheless see them as being a contender this year.
4) St. Olaf - Lost Jack Macintyre, but return Greg Olsen at attack, and Hockert at the midfield. Did I hear rumblings of another stud middie who's just a freshman?
5) Mankato - Lost Jason Henrickson to graduation right as he was really starting to heat up as a player, and Trevan Shepard graduated as well. With your top two scorers from last year gone, it's always hard to have someone new step up and take the reigns of the offense.
5) Iowa State - Had a young team last year that will have another years experience now. I have no idea where ISU will finish this year.
6) St. Cloud - Played us awfully hard all four quarters of our game last year, and with Grannes as coach you don't want to underestimate them.
8) Stevens Point - Lost Matt Kennedy and Josh Fast, their two leading scorers, to graduation. Should have some studs at defense this year, but it's hard to tell how much firepower they'll have on offense.

Wish I knew more about the UMLL Division 2, but I'm still not familiar enough with the teams to make predictions for them.

Henrickson was Mankato's only "graduating" senior last year. Sheppard is a senior this 2008 spring season.

That's odd... umll.org has him listed as a senior last season.

I believe last year was academically his senior year. This year will be his last of eligibility.

I was just thinking, did the pre-season polls that were submitted at the league meeting ever get sent out? Not that pre-season polls matter that much, but curious.
