Lacrosse club continues plans for expansion

It really was an example of the universal ebb and flow, how certain things that belong together will, eventually, find each other. Five years ago, the Discovery Science and Outdoor Center was putting on a Native American Workshop at Brick City Park. Part of that was an examination of some of the games and sports that were popular with Native Americans several centuries ago.

At approximately the same time, some lacrosse enthusiasts were trying to get a game going in a city in which the sport was largely unknown.

The two elements collided, and . . .
Thus was born the Ocala Youth Lacrosse Club, also known as the DSOC Lizards.

The club is entering its third year as part of the West Florida Lacrosse League, and as it has in the previous two seasons, it continues to grow. There will be three teams competing in three divisions this season, with a high school boys squad, a middle school boys team and a high school girls team. All three have a schedule of games already determined.
