MARS HILL, NC - The Mars Hill College Lacrosse Program has elected Vincent Giganti, Colbe Klein, Lance Renes, and Dru Ulloa as captains for the 2008 season.

For the past three seasons, Giganti, a senior midfielder from Damascus, Maryland has been the work horse for the Mars Hill Lions. He is the team’s most vocal leader and he has been elected captain for the second straight year because of his toughness and intensity.

Klein, a captain last year, is a senior defenseman from West Grove, Pennsylvania. The team’s defensive MVP in 2007, Klein routinely guards the opposition’s best offensive player. Last season Klein made the All-Deep South Conference Team and he was named the Deep South Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Renes, also a captain last year, is a former second team All-Deep South Conference selection. The senior from Aurora, Colorado, has been a three-year starter on defense and he has won the respect of his peers by his dedication to the team and his consistent work ethic.

Although Ulloa only stands at 5’8” and 190-pounds, he is undisputedly the strongest man on the team. Ulloa, a midfielder from Lilburn, Georgia, is the lone junior captain for the Lions. His attitude, desire to win and toughness are why he was voted "unsung hero" by his teammates in 2007.

Mars Hill opens the regular season on February 16 when they host the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College. The Lions return a team that lost no one to graduation and features last season’s conference player of the year and one of the nation’s most potent offenses.
