Does Miami have a men's team of any sort? I don't see a USLIA or any other team listed, however, the school's website has a men's team listed under rec. sports.

Thanks

they have a team that plays under the banner of the school. what percentage of the team actually goes to the school is a good question. i believe they compete in the college division of the FLL.

Div 1 is very competitive. Div 2 (college division) is not.

Hi, this is Sean Mulligan, the president of the UM team. We do in fact have a team that is made up of 100% students. We play in the Florida Lacrosse League, we tried to get into the SELC, but our team was deemed too inexperienced. If you would like to schedule a game with us, contact me at smulligan13@gmail.com, thanks

Typically, the SELC requires new programs to complete one season of collegiate club lacrosse prior to applying to the conference for membership. The conference encourages all new teams to play SELC teams before applying so they know what they are getting into.

I know U of Miami applied to the SELC last summer, but I'm not certain who exactly your team played last spring (2004). What is Miami's schedule this current spring season looking like? Are you playing any SELC or MDIA teams this year? Playing men's club teams in the Florida Lacrosse League, while convienent for a geographically isolated team like yours, doesn't really endear yourself to the rigors & travel involved for a SELC program.

Good luck with your team.

Your sport club director also said you all were not ready to meet our financial obligations and you all did not have a coach. Two very important factors to joining the MDIA/SELC.

if/when they join the SELC id like to play them @ their place.
ive never been to miami..... sounds fun though. i guess they would be in the SELC south with UF and FSU etc....
also i guess it another attraction to out of conferance teams who come down south for Spring break.... to come play emory, uga, gt, then all the florida teams....
who knows.
how is yalls season in the FLL going?

One of our current players just transferred to USC from U of Miami this fall. He said that he went to a few practices and wanted to play lacrosse very badly, but that it was so disorganized he simply stopped going. Too bad for Miami because he was a HS first runner-up All-American on the California state championship team, and is already an impact player on our team. I wonder how many other good players they're losing because of the lack of structure...

I also was planning on going there, but decided not to after talking to the club president this summer and being told they were not even definitely going to be in a league.

Are you talking about Pat Fitzgibbon? We were looking all over campus for him last semester, How is he doing? yeah last year we were just in the process of starting the team in the spring and we didnt have much to offer to the guys in terms of games. This year we finished up in the FLL 5-5 and next year we hope to attract more players and schedule some games with UF and FSU and the other USLIA teams, but prob won' apply to the league again until 2006. The only USLIA team we played was UCF, and lost 10-9 in the fall. zer0ized, I remember seeing your post about us on the UF message board and I e-mailed you, but you never responded, its too bad you didnt come here, because we did play in a league, at the time, we were still waiting to here from the SELC, thats why I didnt know if we were def going to be in a league. We are looking for a coach, so if you know anyone in the Miami area that would be interested, e-mail me at smulligan13@gmail.com Thanks

Sean,
Do you have a good turnout at Miami in terms of numbers for games/practices? Also, since you guys are not yet affiliated with the MDIA, can grad students play? I've already used up NCAA and MDIA eligibility when I was at UNH. I'm now at Miami for B-school this year and next and wouldn't mind playing or helping out.
