Marquette offseason has been rather blah compared to some of our recent years. I am not going to lie, I think I will take that :)

I will refrain from commenting on any incoming players, sorry, I am that coach that will divulge nothing that might take away an edge we are going to have.

However, our season outlook is good. We have a Spring break trip in place to go play against Auburn, GT, Wake, and South Carolina. Some good competition and a chance to get a few out of conference games. We are working on some other potential out of conference games, but they are up in the air as of right now.

We are planning on hosting a fall tournament for local Milwaukee teams which will be great as a way to build some lacrosse in Wisconsin. We kept it to teams within an hour's drive since it is only a two day tournament, but we are trying to spread the knowledge of MCLA lacrosse in Milwaukee area which is great.

Other than that, not much happening. Good luck with everyone as our season approaches. Soon enough it will be spring and we will all once again get to step on the field (well except for us old coaches) and compete. [Coaches just have to decide how to stay warm pacing the sidelines in sub artic temperatures :)]

our goal is to play against some great out of conference oppenents and prepare ourselves for what looks to be a great year for the B division as a whole. i have put in countless hours googleing, mapquesting, networking. but hopefully it will make for a great year for the UMLL B

Also im chopping at the bit to be able to play the definding national champion Griz and Augustana.

Have to be willing to play the best there is out there and hoping we can gain expirence and knowledge by playing these teams!

Wow, the CJ invitational looks stacked this year. Something to look forward to. Any thoughts of extending this to the B division? Sorry if that opens up a can of worms, but it appears most of the B division teams have to travel to see good teams. I know SJU and UST are working to get better squads to head up north. Maybe an event of this stature could help foster more of that.

Regardless that is going to be an awesome event.

Definately worth the trip to watch some top notch A division teams play.

Opening it to some Top B teams would also be interesting!

Two thoughts:

First, when will the Chris Jenkins Invitational be held this year? And does this mean the teams are UMD, UofM, Colorado State, and BC?

Second, SJU and UST should definitely combine and invite great schools to travel up here, if you haven't been talking about it already. Early games in the year (February, early March) are a great time to invite teams up to play, especially if you can get a hold of teams that play in other cold climates (Montana, Westminister). Coming from Minnesota I think it's easy to take for granted all the domes and indoor full-field facilities we have available in this state. In Wisconsin there are zero full-field indoor facilities available in the winter. And the same is true in Illinois! Kudos to the Gophers for putting together a tournament at a great venue, and thank God that even though we here in the midwest can't play lacrosse outside year round, we have the facilities to play indoor in some areas (Iowa City, Minneapolis/St. Paul). We at Marquette would love to have just one full-field dome nearby (and I know some of the other out-of-city teams agree).
