Last Saturday the Omaha Rhinos won the Great Plains Lacrosse League 2007 Championship after defeating the Flying Monkeys 9-8 in the semi-finals and Boulevard 15-6 in the finals.

The Omaha Rhinos, started by Creighton assistant coach Joe Meyer in 2006, is primarily comprised of student-athletes currently playing for the University of Nebraska, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Creighton University, in addition to a few of the Omaha area high school coaches and referees.

Joe has really done a tremendous job in the last 2 years. I believe that the Rhinos had a record of 1 and 6 in 2006 and this is the first time that a non-Kansas City team has won the GPLL Championship.

Congrats guys.

Two words. Total domination. Next year's the tourney is in Rhino territory... and hopefully it will stay there indefinitely.

There wasn't total domination, we lost a few games this year, and fought a great 1 goal win out in the semi finals. The Final game was tight through the first half when we finally pulled away in the second half.

To go from a first year team last year to the first place team this year though was great.

Thanks to the majority of our team who are GRLC related from players, coaches, and players.

Also, thanks to the rest of the GPLL teams for several great battels this year.
