Last Saturday the Omaha Rhinos won the Great Plains Lacrosse League 2007 Championship after defeating the Flying Monkeys 9-8 in the semi-finals and Boulevard 15-6 in the finals.
The Omaha Rhinos, started by Creighton assistant coach Joe Meyer in 2006, is primarily comprised of student-athletes currently playing for the University of Nebraska, the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and Creighton University, in addition to a few of the Omaha area high school coaches and referees.
Joe has really done a tremendous job in the last 2 years. I believe that the Rhinos had a record of 1 and 6 in 2006 and this is the first time that a non-Kansas City team has won the GPLL Championship.
Congrats guys.
