Postby Sonny on Sun Jul 08, 2007 4:15 pm

Congrats to the Gators who knocked off Auburn in OT this afternoon to earn the '07 SELC Alumni Tourney championship.

UF beat Tennessee in one semifinal while Auburn defeated Clemson in the other semifinal earlier in the morning.

Just like football season... but I am quite sure that no one, I mean no one had such a bold uniform (from to top bottom) as America's Team had in Atlanta.

Congrats boys. Go Vols!

Thanks again to Ken and everyone involved in putting this weekend together. I had a blast playing against guys I played against around 20 years ago!

Congrats to Florida. They were definitely the team to beat. Auburn's games against UF were the on-the-field highlights of the weekend. See y'all next year!

I had a nice time as well. Hope to play some more next year (or sonny give up tennis  )

Thoughts from the weekend:
Best Uniforms- UT the cut off jean shorts were CLASSIC and I love the uniforms- ballzy

Most Creative- UF uni's. The Gator script with Oasis lacrosse on the jersey, nice.

Furtherst Travel- Clemson- one alum in his 40's came from Maine.

Best Line- every year- Sunday Morning- "how ya feeling?" "I have felt better. In fact I just puked and got my second wind for the games today. Is there a keg today?"

Best New Rule to Lacrosse- Person closest to the ball where it goes out on a shot gets possesion. I love rules

Worst Complainer- hands down- JJ from UF. Shut up already

Best Athlete- Dave Adams- bar none. His best line when someone complimented on a good ground ball- "it wouldn't have been a ground ball if I could catch the damn thing!".
Dave runs his playing time to a total of 2minutes, 10seconds after this years tournament.

Best Accomodations- members of UF stayed at the Ritz. Yes, the Ritz.

Best Sponorship- HOLE IN THE WALL- free beer and wine for the teams on Saturday night. I think Adam Z from AU was the only one drinking wine though.

See you all next year!

When did they put THAT rule in, or was it just called that way for your Alumni tourney?
Sounds like it was a great time!

That was a load of fun. Thanks to Ken for organizing it.

Also, can you guys check around with your players to see if anyone picked up a stick left by accident on Sunday? It's pretty easy to identify. Old school Brine Edge with an awful leather pocket on an old brine f-15 cornered shaft. The pocket is being held together by a yellow sidewall and tons of tape. That stick and I have been friends since 1998...so if someone has got it, please let me know.

Ken - solid chance nobody picked it up and it was left sitting there on the sidelines...

Pete- Did it have a slit cut at the top of the mesh for faceoffs?

No, Brad, it did not have such a slit. That was someone else's stick.

I guess the slit in there was just to sneak the ball through (and only the ball), as whosever stick it was threw a tantrum when I put my index finger through it.

that slit does wonders for that someone else's passing ability.

i think i saw ken with the left behind edge at the end of the day.
