Has anyone heard of new programs interested in joining the GRLC for the 2008 season? If so, please have them contact me at the email address below.

So far, I have only heard from DePaul in Chicago. It looks like Mississippi will also apply. Any others?

Random side note, I am always sort of surprised Bradley does not have a team (or at least to my knowledge).

In the news story regarding Middle Tennessee State lacrosse, it was interesting to see they played Western Kentucky University. Anyone had contact with WKU recently? They were formerly in the GRLC.

Last summer I did a clinic in Peoria with a professor from Bradley for their rec sports office. There were a lot of guys out but it seems not enough interest to start a team.

I would welcome the chance to go back and start somethign there. A natural rival for us and other teams in Illinois.

As for MTSU, better suited for SELC. What with being located off I-65 and their proximity to Vandy and the Alabama schools.

Will DePaul be joined as an A division team or B division? I believe according to National by-laws they would be an A division, but I am just curious and would like to confirm. (They are close by and a good game for us to play).

Thank you.

DePaul

Under the national bylaws, Depaul would be a B Division team as the school does not have a Division I-A football program. If accepted into the GRLC they could petition to play in the A Division, but it is my understanding that they will not.

DePaul is coached by former Marquette super star (and my former assistant coach at Creighton from 2004-06) John Bambrick. They competed in the GLLL last year and had a good sized roster (about 25) made up of Chicagoland kids and a few that originally went east to play NCAA lax and have found their way home.

They appreciate the commitment and financial requirements associated with membership in the GRLC and I anticipate that DePaul will be a nice addition to the conference.

And I love trips to Chicago. It may not be an overly valid reason to accept a team, but location has always been somewhere on my list of pros and cons when looking at new teams.

I would tell you John Bambrick is pretty well organized and is familiar with the MCLA from his days with Marquette. I saw DePaul last fall and they looked pretty organized and ready to compete at our level.

I wish they coming into the A division so we could play them since they are so close, but that's ok. I hope they get accepted into the GRLC (if they haven't already).

Will, did you get to enjoy the Bino studder step where you knew was he was going and he still made you look silly? It is embarrassing :)

Have I seen it? Dupree, I mean Bambrick, has been sleeping on my couch for the past week. I have to see his studder step on the way to the shower every morning.
