division B

Seems like division B will once again be dominated by southwestern. All the other teams look to be in horrible shape in regard to overall lacrosse aka sloppy. Why doesnt Southwestern move up?

I noticed on the A&M website, the starting time for the A&M/Baylor game is 4 p.m. On the MCLA website, the starting time is listed for 1 p.m. Any clarification??

Yeah, I noticed that, too, but it will not be long until murphylaxtx would respond to that. :D

Coach Scazzero contacted me yesterday about a conflict for parking lot space because of a Men's basketball game being started at 1 PM. Anyone that has been to Penberthy knows how much of a problem that could be. So, we went ahead and changed the gametime to 4 PM to avoid any issues.

With a quick check at A&M men's basketball schedule, it is interesting that the Aggies are hosting the Baylor Bears basketball team at 12:30 pm on the same day the Ags and the Bears will have their lacrosse game at 4 pm on the same afternoon! Can we steer the Ags and the Bears fans from the basketball game to the lacrosse game?

southwestern

Southwestern needs to start winning consistently against OOC opponents and win some games at nationals before looking to move up divisions.

Also remember that a school with 1250 students is going to fluctuate on talent. Five years ago Southwestern had a team of 13. The only reason they are dominating division B right now is solid coaching, they recruit individuals from other sports (then completely teach them to play), and numerous people working behind the scenes (Stacy Flood & Monty Curtis) dedicated making sure of the logistics of a season go smoothly.

Southwestern dominates because their organization is sound. Not because they are the most skilled lacrosse team.

If other division B teams ran under the same model as southwestern or oklahoma (when they where B) this division would get more competitive.

Responding to BucLax13's post above, I will never forget checking out the game reports/scores of the Southwestern teams dating back to 1993, and I would be consistently amazed at how much fight the Bucs still had in them despite their small rosters. I quietly called them the Ironmen back then, and I still believe that that was largely due to Coach Bill Bowman's dogged and tireless determination which really fed off his energy to his players. Back in 1993 and to this day, Coach Bowman is still that person.

My hat goes off to Coach Bowman, even here at OU we have a ton of respect for him. Best of luck to SU in their season.

On Trinity- I haven't heard anything about them this season. I know they had a couple good players last year who could score...anything this year?

Saturday February 24
Baylor @ Texas A&M - 2 wins for the price of one if you wander over from Reed Arena
North Texas @ Tulane - UNT is beginning to expect to win games like this
Texas State @ Rice - Texas St needs this one after the road trip, especially with Rice struggling. This is for the 2nd spot in the South
Arkansas @ Oklahoma - OU is ready
Trinity @ Southwestern - You guys said SU should win so I'm going with them
Austin College @ UTSA - I have no idea, but I remember seeing AC practicing in an overgrown lot dodging trees and ant piles and any team deserves better than that.

Sunday February 25
North Texas @ LSU - Gotta win this one if they wanna challenge for that 3rd spot in the North
Austin College @ St. Edwards - No clue, but i gave Austin College a win earlier, so UTSA gets this one as a newer program.

Baylor @ Texas A&M ... Bears by one ... A&M seems to be too occupied with making YouTube videos ... if the Bears are gonna make a statement, this is the perfect opportunity.
North Texas @ Tulane ... Eagles or Mean Green or whatever their mascot is these days by 9
Texas State @ Rice ... Cats by 14
Arkansas @ Oklahoma ... Gonna be kinda close, but as usual, I'm pullin' for the Sooners ... considering this program is only 2 years old, they have great talent and tremendous potential ... OU by 5
Trinity @ Southwestern ... Southwestern by 6
Austin College @ UTSA ... UTSA's program is still developing ... taking AC by 6

North Texas @ LSU ... Again, the ever-changing mascot of UNT, by 12
Austin College @ St. Edwards Despite the loss to Ft. Lewis here in Lubbock, St. Eds played the Skyhawks to a 0-0 first quarter ... they'll start picking up some steam ... St. Ed's by 3

Mean Green
