WCLL A alignment

It seems that with 20 wcll A teams there should be 4 divisions of 5. Moving UCSB to the central and Berkeley to the north would make the most sense to me. It would be great to see the old rivalry of ssu vs. berkeley spark up. Any thoughts?

It is highly likely that the WCLL will undergo yet another realignment possibly as soon as the 2008 season with the new div. A team line up. I'm sure that the uneven split of the divisions is not the ideal situation, but was a temporary fix due to the addition of USD and Claremont to the A division.
I see UCSB moving into the central division and St. Mary's College moving to the North the most likely shift. I would think Cal and Stanford would remain in the same division after any realignment.
The WCLL has undergone numerous realignments since the 2000 season and I would expect that trend to continue as more teams make the jump to Div. A...perhaps UCSC, Pepperdine and UNLV being likely candidates.

Maybe UNLV only because of their varsity status. The WCLL doesn't necessarily need any more teams in div A. Division B exists for a reason, it's not just a proving ground for any team "until they make the jump".

WCLL A- re-alignment

Eventally, look for San Jose State and UNLV moving to the A Division due their respective institutions sponsoring Div 1-A football programs. When that happens, I would exppect Cal to move to the North but no move for UCSB to the central.

You are right Gary...I didn't even consider that aspect. I guess San Jose State and UNLV would move to the WCLL A before the other mentioned teams because of their D-I A (...or NCAA D I bowl subdivision, haha) affiliation. They would be the teams that would benefit the most from the move (post-season, etc.). A hypothetical move of both SJSU and UNLV would leave the South Division with 6 teams and the Central Division with 6 teams to match the 6 in the Los Angeles Division. The North would then only have 4 teams and a subsequent realignment would need to occur.
Wow, I lot of hypotheticals...just interesting speculation. Who knows what the WCLL will look like in 5-10 years.
BTW I did not mean to say that the B division is just a stepping zone to the A division. The teams I mentioned were just a few that I believe from personal observation (these observations may be outdated) that may have the organization and players in place to move to the A division in the years to come.
