Sugar Bowl High school Lacrosse Tournament

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has added the sport of Lacrosse to its annual championship events.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse Classic is a two-day event that features high school varsity boy's teams from the Gulf South region. This is the first year of the event and will be played at LaSalle Park in Metairie, La., on February 3-4, 2007.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl has announced that they have filled the eight (8) high school lacrosse teams for the inaugural Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse Classic.

The 2007 participating high school boys lacrosse teams are:

Jesuit High School, New Orleans, LA
St. Thomas More High School, Lafayette, LA
Loyola High School, Shreveport, LA
Byrd High School, Shreveport, LA
Evangel Christian Academy, Shreveport, LA
Maclay School, Tallahassee, FL
Gulf Coast Lacrosse, Gulfport, MS
Klein High School, Houston, TX

Congratulations to Klein High School, Houston, TX for winning the tournament.

And to Football powerhouse turned lacrosse powerhouse Evangel Christian Academy, Shreveport, LA for taking second missing the 1st place trophy by only 3 goals.

Great part about it is that many of those schools feed into LSU. The growth of HS LAX in Louisiana means that LSU will no longer only rely on transplants from Texas, Northeast and Midwest....Those guys will still add strength to the program (now and in the future), but LSU will make another step forward with the addition of homegrown, HS trained talent.

Many thanks to Rusty, Paul, Ford, Karl, Phil, Rob, Steve and many others who have made HS Lacrosse grow in the Pelican State! And a big thanks goes to US Lacrosse!!!! I am forever indebted and will pay my dues every year (on time or close to it) for the help they have given my State!
