Looks like an outstanding lineup of speakers - quite the value for $20!

Just in case people are wondering, the Level 1 officials training is cerification to do youth games. Level 1 plus Level 2 is the certification required for a new high school official. In both cases, there's an on-field portion of the course which has not been scheduled yet.

I have to ask...would it make sense for players to attend the clinic as well as coaches? I'm interested in going, but am none to eager to shell out $20 without knowing what to expect. It sounds like a great lineup of speakers, and as much as I'd like to go, I'm wondering if it would be beneficial for those who are not (yet) coaches.

Kevin -

I say that I'd be very benificial for a player and, or aspiring coach to attend. My very little experience coaching has already opened my eyes up to offer me the begining of what will eventually become the total picture as to the why, when, who, and how. Looking back I feel as a player I had tunnel vision.

Cheers

Just a note - The MBSLA coaches convention was well attended and extremely well run. I was really impressed with the MBSLA's ability to run an organized and informative program. Matt Kerwick and Tom Baker were great out of state additions to the program and both did a great job. Our own Chris Larson and Mark Hellenack did "upper level" presentations on Offense. And (note pride in writing) UMD's own Sam Litman did an outstanding Goalie training presentation. I think those that attended (which was over 150) received alot for their $20...

couldn't agree more.

heck of a value!

hopefully, once others realize the value of such an event the MBSLA won't have to lose their butts on it, i.e. they'll be able to charge more and at least break even.

the pressure zone by Tom Baker was really cool, i had never seen it before.
