Lax in Greeley?

Does anyone know if Greeley has high school-age club lax? The guys here in Cheyenne are looking for more games and it would be great to be able to play games only a little more than an hour away.

With my own experience, I shouldn't be surprised, but these kids are addicted to lax. Most of them have only been playing since last April and others since September, but they can't get enough of it. They were busting their humps trying to get the OK from the school district to get into a gym and play indoors over the winter.

Long story short, lax is booming in Wyoming too!

That's too bad. Hopefully, they can get the youth program going and get those kids to stick with it.

The youth program here has shown signs of slight growth from last year. Most of the kids are hockey players and we're getting about five from Laramie. The high schoolers nearly have enough kids for two teams and have talked about splitting along the lines of the city's two high schools. I think they're best bet is to form a varsity and JV.

They're scrimmaging Alexander Dawson, Mullen and I believe a team from Steamboat in the next few weeks.

I'm coaching 7th graders in Parker, CO and I know we're tentatively scheduled to play Cheyenne this spring. I sure hope it's down here. :D

it is amazing how much lax hass grown in wyoming over the past couple of year. 98-99 no one had really heard of it, unless you were from out of state. now the college team is up and running and my 12 year old nephew is looking to play on a youth team, which were not around a coupl years ago. i was shocked when my nephew asked me to help him cause he was going to join a cheyenne team. nice work up there in wyoming everyone.

BYUAlum, it wouldn't kill you guys to come up here once in a while. I haven't been able to make any of the trips down there because all of the games are on Saturdays and even during the summer that's a big day in the world of sports journalism. Maybe I'll get down there some time this summer. Do you coach the Bears?

CSUAlum, who's your nephew, did he play last summer?

Jeff's a good kid, but I never would have put a player on the lax beat when I was Branding Iron editor. How funny is it going to look if he scores a couple of goals and dishes out a couple of assists? :? Staffing the BI is hard because the majority of the journalism majors don't ever work for it during their time on campus. Then some of them go to the annual job fair and leave wondering why they have such a hard time getting a job. It's because you don't have any clips, dummy! Then they move into PR (more money than I make, but a lot less self-respect :( ).

BYUAlum, I just got the Cheyenne Outlaws schedule and it looks like the only 7-8 grade Parker-Cheyenne game is up here April 2. There are two 5-6 grade games here April 2, and there April 9.

Then up there it is...how about a good place for lunch in Cheyenne?

We are starting a highschool boys lacrosse team in Durango this spring. Our first game is scheduled for April 30 in Santa Fe New Mexico vs a private prep school. We will be running the team through the city's Park and Rec Dept this year, and hope to be sanctioned by the school for 2006. We are working with several other western slope highschools (Telluride, Gunnison, Brecjenridge, Eagle County/vail, Glenwood) to eventually form a HS conference that could send a rep or reps to the state tournament.

we will also be playing a tournament in Glenwood springs, Avon, and hosting teams in Durango June 4 and 5 as part of our mens tournament, The Fourth Annual Four Corners Lacrosse Cup.
