Lehigh Mountain Hawks Welcome Class of 2010

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Head coach Chris Wakely has announced the newest class for Lehigh men's lacrosse, as the Mountain Hawks welcome in 13 student-athletes from six states. This newest group consists of student-athletes from California, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York.

"This is a great group of strong student-athletes that we are welcoming to Lehigh University," said Wakely. "It's an athletic class that should make us deeper in terms of our depth and only add to the overall strength of the team."

Chris Andreola comes to Lehigh from Moorestown, New Jersey where he graduated from Moorestown High School. The midfielder/attackman was honored with the William E. Smith award this past season, which is given to the varsity lacrosse player who was inspirational due to his courage, tenacity, and love of the

The first of two recruits from St. Anthony's High School in New York is Taylor Castagna, who comes to Lehigh from South Huntington. Castagna was honored with the Adam L'Eplattenier Memorial Award last year, which was in recognition of his lacrosse achievements, academic excellence and leadership ability.

Max Copelan arrives in Bethlehem by way of Columbus, Ohio. Copelan was a First-Team All Ohio honoree and second team All-Midwest selection this past season, as well as the scholar athlete of the year and his high school team's leader in assists. Copelan, scored 58 points as a senior, was a member of the National Honor Society, a "Who's Who in school" nominee and he graduated magna cum laude.

A defenseman from Upper Dresher, Pennsylvania, Sean Dunn served as team captain for Upper Dublin High School as a senior and earned team defensive MVP honors. Dunn was a two time All-Suburban One selection and he earned three varsity letters. A volunteer firefighter, Dunn helped lead his high school to the playoffs for only the second time in school history during his time at Upper Dublin.

Hailing from Merrick, New York is Kyle Gentile, a four year member of his high school's lacrosse team. Gentile, who attended Chaminade High School, served as captain during his senior year and was named the MVP of his team's championship contest, in which they won the Catholic League Title. An All-League player as a senior and a Blue Chip 225 All-Star, Gentile was a member of the National Honor Society and served in the student athlete leadership program in 2005-06.

A midfielder from Summit, New Jersey, Will Gruetzmacher was his high school team's MVP as a senior, as he led Summit High School to the state finals. An honorable mention All-State performer and First-Team All Division honoree, Gruetzmacher was a Second Team All-Conference selection and was named a "young gun" by Inside Lacrosse in the fall of 2005. Gruetzmacher, who graduated from Summit magna cum laude, also participated in football, where he was an All-Conference performer.

Evan Guerrero comes to Lehigh all the way from San Juan Capistrano, California, where he attended Saint Margarets School. Guerrero was a First Team All-League honoree in three sports, including lacrosse, football and basketball, and was named his high school's Athlete of the Year for 2006. The west coast native was also a National Hispanic Scholar honorable mention and a member of the headmaster's honor roll.

From Delmar, New York comes Andrew Horgan who recently graduated from Christian Brothers Academy. Horgan was a member of the 2005 Empire State Team for the Adirondack Region and served as team captain during his senior season. Off of the field, Horgan is a member of the National Honor Society and was a Brigade Commander in high school.

The second member of this class from Huntington, New York is Mike Larkin, who recently graduated from St. Anthony's High School. Larkin was the co-defensive player of the year in his conference last season and was an All-League honoree. In addition, he was honored with the St. Anthony's Charles McLaughlin Memorial Award and the Town of Huntington Scholar Athlete Award.

Chris Linko comes to Lehigh from Hudson, Ohio where he attended Hudson High School and earned three varsity letters. Linko was a two-time Ohio North All-Star and also a three-time greater Cleveland Select all-star, as helped lead Hudson to the quarterfinals of the state tournament as a sophomore and the semifinals as a junior.

John McNierney comes to Lehigh from Huntington, New York where he recently graduated from Huntington High School. McNierney, an attackman, was a three-year varsity letterwinner and two year starter as helped lead his high school to a state championship in 2005 and 2006. McNierney, who also served as captain as a senior, scored 121 career points, while garnering All-Division and All-County accolades. In addition, he is a four-year honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society.

Leon Rosenberg arrives by way of the Sunshine State, as he recently graduated from the Pine Crest School in Florida. The Cooper City native was a First-Team All-League honoree as a senior when he led his team to an appearance in the state semifinals and served as team captain. During his junior season, Rosenberg led Pine Crest into the state quarterfinals as he garnered Second-Team All-League status.

From Nashua, New Hampshire and Canterbury School (Conn.) is Michael Saucier, a two time First-Team All-State selection. Saucier served as his team's captain, earned the team MVP award and also garnered tournament MVP honors. A First-Team pick of the Lowell Sun, Saucier was a two time Second Team selection of the Nashua Telegraph. In the classroom, Saucier was a member of the headmaster's list.

Lehigh, coming off of two straight postseason appearances and its most league wins since the 1999 season will begin its fall workout schedule once school begins. The Mountain Hawks will work on conditioning, weight lifting and skill development before embarking on their fall schedule.
